Third for Badger. Have had mine for 2 years now I think and its been great.

 

There isn't anything else worth purchasing other than a Badger! Don't throw your money away on anything else. Badger, hands down!

Badger! My B2 is on the way...

 

Go Badger quality construction and fit are unsurpassed. Bought the Badger III live in Florida and love it. Windows will be zipped out most of the year for an open air ride. Looks gorgeous and dresses up the D-90

 

Badger...take a look at Chris's seat covers too...they are really nice. I am getting ready to outfit my jump seats in the back.

 

Does everyone run with the window gutter system? The main draw back I have with my original (and tired) Bestop are the gaps around the window and roll bar. My present top literally has the rain run into the cab... so when I update the top -it will be a Badger - I am debating the added cost of the window gutter set up.

 

Depends how much it rains where you live. My badger III doesn't have the rain gutters (by choice) and I have only had little drips at worst come inside the D-90. I have been in some major downpours too. But to stay completely dry and wind free maybe you will want the gutters.

I don't know it the gutter kits are easy to come on/off or are permanent.

 

I've got the gutters on mine. The nice thing about them is the all around hard seal they provide. My windows stopped leaking after I installed the kit. Had to add some weather stripping to the window to stop the air leaks though. When I put the kit on I used the holes that the PO had for the bestop so they don't quite line up right.

Sometimes you have to bend the doortops in to get a better seal to the doorseals. Take the time to make the holes bigger to get an even gap up the backside, across the top and down the front edge of the door. Some of the installs we have done at our shop don't always work as well as I want them to be. We might get a nice even gap on the passenger door and then look at the drivers door and have to wrestle with the fit to get an even gap, which sometimes is impossible. We have even measured the door openings across the bottom of the tub and across the top of the tube and find both sides measure differently. It all goes wrong at the factory.

I'm glad you and everyone else is happy with their Badger products. I like the feedback as well.

 

I found that it takes nothing more than a couple thin strips (like 1/4") of pond liner laid along the outside edge of the door to make the door top lean in niceley when it it tightened down. I have never had a sealing problem with original Bestop or the badger set-up I'm running now (got it second-hand Chris - sorry!). The PO of the Badger set-up had installed weather stripping to seal the gap between the door and gutter. I used my pond liner and it fixed it.

 

A Defender owner with a Bestop will go through a couple of tops. Our tops go through a couple owners.

well it's all up to price really. If you want to spend the extra money for the badger I for the gutter kit, you won't regret it. I have one on my truck and would never have anything else. But if you're tight on cash, I've heard wonderful things about the Badger III's as well.

 

which badger top I or III?

Having just ordered a Badger top I struggled with the same question. I didn't want to spend the extra $$$, but having had the hardtop, I liked how the door tops sealed. The gutter kit more or less gives you a hardtop like seal around the doortops. That narrowed it down to the B1 or B2. I also liked the way that the side windows rolled up on the B2, and with the back window removed, it's effectively a surrey top. Around here, all I use is the hardtop in the winter and the surrey top in the summer. The B2 will give me two tops in one without the hassle of changing the top. Plus, I think I'm really going to like the tan top on alpine white combo. We'll see in a couple weeks!

That is a great line! Its a bit long but well worth a trademark.

The website may not be the greatest, but I'm liking the top. 18" of snow on the ground and this is the first time I've driven the D in snow without my left arm getting wet. Wind noise is down a bit, stays warmer, dryer, looks better. Have had it on for 2 months now.

My wife also commented on the quality of the work. Must be good for her to say anything positive about my truck. Up to now the most positive thing she had to say about it was, "When do we sell it?"
