Anyone with a Tdi experience a diesel leak from the injection pump where it bolts to the timing cover?

I assume there's an out seal in there somewhere....

I'd have thought you would have fuel coming out the drain hole, it's the path of least resistance. Are you absolutely sure the fuel is leaking from the inside of the pump? Could it be a fault external to the pump.
Major pain in the wallet if it is the pump:eek:
Is the pump tight on the timing belt chest?
I'd clean up the area and verify where the fuel is leaking as a first step. There's a little inspection cover held on with 3 fasteners, I'd pull that and have a peak inside.

Put a seal kit in it. You can buy them on Ebay. Buy the special 3 sided socket tool. VEs all piss fuel if they have the old non ULSD seals in them.

Are you sure we are talking about the same bolt? The reason I ask is that this bolt won't come out unless I remove the pump itself. Does the seal you are talking about share the same passage as the bolt?

I was able to back it out 1/4" and clean it up with air and pipe cleaners. Someone else had already tried to RTV it. I put some Loctite on the threads and washer and will see if that holds.

Oh, you definitely have to pull the pump, but at least you don't have to pull all the internals. They are a pretty simple pump to mess with. The link I sent you should give you an idea of how it all comes apart. I think the local pump shop only charges 2-300 bucks for a reseal, might be best to find a place where you can just drop it off and get it done.

If it is leaking from that O ring, chances are the advance cover, top cover, control shaft etc are going to eventually start leaking. The patch will buy you some time but I would put a seal kit in it to avoid further mess.

Should there be an O ring on that bolt? Mine just has a washer.

Yep. It is further in, ahead of the threaded section. The link I sent you has a good pic of the part.
