i want to put some additions into my main fuse panel, but none of my female connectors fit, to include the carlings. clearly land rover didnt use a common size in the US. any of you restoration guys know the size or have a good online source you can recommend?

That picture on RN looks like a standard Lucar type terminal, which isn't correct for the blade fusebox.

They correct terminals are available from Land Rover -

STC4034 - Connector to fit 0.5 - 1.0mm2 cable

STC4035 - Connector to fit 1.1 - 2.0mm2 cable

STC4036 - Connector to fit 2.5 - 3.0mm2 cable

Mind, they're expensive

I recently took some pictures, for a member on another forum, of the terminals and how to remove them from the fuse box -

I've found these terminals at a UK supplier that look very similar -

http://polevolt.co.uk/acatalog/info_FBS1U_66.html

The terminals are available seperately, as Part No. 3-4647

Here, near the bottom of the page -
http://www.polevolt.co.uk/acatalog/Single_Fuse_Holders.html

I'll be adding some to my next order from Polevolt, to see if they'll fit the TD5 fusebox.

That's a shame, I didn't realise that Polevolt were UK only, I don't know of anywhere else selling a comparable terminal.

The Genuine terminals - STC4034, STC4035 & STC4036 - should be available through a Land Rover Dealer, but they're stupidly expensive, especially the terminals for the smaller cable sizes :confused

L.R.Series in the UK, ship to the US and list the genuine (or 'replacement') terminals on their site -

STC4034 - http://www.lrseries.com/shop/product/listing/12215/STC4034-CONNECTOR.html

STC4035 - http://www.lrseries.com/shop/product/listing/12216/STC4035-CONNECTOR.html

STC4036 - http://www.lrseries.com/shop/product/listing/12217/STC4036-CONNECTOR.html

This UK company are selling STC4036, they have a picture of one on their website -

http://shop.dingocroft.co.uk/acatalog/Electrical_Miscellany.html#aSTC4036

It doesn't look anything like the terminals in my 1999 TD5 fusebox, or the picture on RN's website :confused

It might be worth popping a terminal out of your fusebox to see what they look like.

Winzer sells these type of connectors to the automotive industry. I buy them local sometimes but do not have any on hand now.

No store it is a mobil parts sales company here. They stock shelves with parts at dealerships. Many different items. Electrical is something they stand out for. A good sales man will match that part from his catalouge for you. Just meet him on his route one day.

As an update for all, I pulled my panel today and pulled an OEM connector (red wire) as well as created an RN connector part wire (yellow wire). I can confirm the RN is wrong; it is too short and wide.

Still looking for the right part for my panel, as the part no's Paul provided don't look like mine at all (must be later year model).

Glad you got there in the end :)

So, it's worth checking exactly what type of terminal your blade fuse box uses before ordering spares.

The strange elongated spade receptacle terminals - STC4034, STC4035, STC4036 - are for the earlier type of blade fuse boxes (from 200Tdi -> ???)

and the terminals that are similar to an AMP/Tyco 'Junior Timer' terminal are for the later type of blade fuse boxes (TD5 and PUMA)

Did you replace the panel as well? Is there an upgrade available for the fuse panel? I mean, are the autosparks and polevault offerings in any way improvement over stock or at they identical replacements? I have some loose connection in there somewhere. Sometimes I have to push the panel to get the dash lights to turn on.

That may not be the fuses.

I had a similar problem with auxiliary lights that I fitted to my 110.

I'd mounted the relays to the fuse panel and used the panel to earth the relay's coils.

Doing this, relies on the fuse panel's mounting screws for the earth path, which is not a very good earth.

I found that adding an earth wire from the fuse panel to an earth point behind the instruments, solved all my problems with relays working intermittently.

I have a fuse holder that doesn't hold the fuse properly causing my rear defrost to work intermittently. Has anyone figured out which terminal will work. I have also found three wires near the fuse block panel that are not used two are identical with female pin type connectors the other is a spade type female connector. I will get photos tomorrow. Everything works on the truck, other than a little feedback from the headlight in the stereo its 100% in the electrical department.

Defender 2003 TD5 Fusebox terminals

This is a big thank you to PaulMc for the photos he put on the forum. :)

I can confirm that the AutoSparks 10 Way Blade Fuse Box C160 is identical to the three fuse boxes fitted to our Defenders.

The C160 packet consists of the fuse box, a lid, the white push through locking plastic bar, two x 5 way connectors, three x 3 way connectors and twenty x 1 way connectors.

Autosparks - 10 WAY BLADE FUSE BOX

Cost ÂŁ20.

I only wanted a single terminal - but at least I now have some spares!

Anybody have an updated source for these?

Very few of these links work these days.

Which type of terminal are you looking for?

The Lucas-Rists elongated spade terminal for the 200Tdi/300Tdi 20-way blade fuse box?

Or the Lear 'Timer' type sprung terminal for the TD5/TDCi 10-way fuse boxes?

A bit of an update for those that care about such a mundane part...
3 Way Connectors (Paul's link) no longer has them in stock and basically said they're "obsolete" when I emailed them.
I figured I'd give the Proline part from RN a shot and even spoke to 2 different people at RN about the connector and was assured it would work.... It didn't.
I think those connectors are for relay blocks and not the fuse block.

I called RN back to let them know they didn't work and asked if they had part STC4035, which doesn't come up on their site. It's the next wire size version up from STC4034

They did have it!! wasn't too horrible at about $2.50 each
They finally arrived and I was excited to see if they'd work. All went well, they were a bit large for the 16ga wire but I was able to make a secure crimp.

Very happy to finally get my wiring project (heated seats) finished, all came out very tidy and factory looking.

Hearing the "clicking" sound of it snapping into place was so satisfying!
