the fuse that was in there reads 12amp continuous, 25 amp blow. should it be a 10 amp or 25 amp?

 

I go with what the fuse box cover says. I think you risk electrical issues if you go with anything higher.

 

My dilemma is that I put a15 amp in and with the truck ignition on accessory, the wipers work fine. If I start the truck up, they work fine at idle. The minute I start to give it some gas to move, it blows the fuse. That’s why I’m asking what size should be in there. Wiper motor is brand new. Thanks for your help

 

You have some other wiring issue. The wipers should easily stall without blowing the fuse.

 

Trace out the wiring to see if you have any shorts. Its actually a pretty easy job to remove the dash to get at the wiring loom if needed. Do you have any other add-on electrical accessories that may have been tied into the wiring system incorrectly? I personally like to strip out anything that was not factory installed...I just don't trust the wiring jobs some folks do when adding accessories.

 

Did this just start, or has it been like this since you owned the truck?

Stop putting oversized fuses in, melt that harness and it is a bad day for you.

This just started happening. Checked the ground on the motor, all good and tight there. With the wiper motor unplugged and unplugged at the wiper stalk , fuse still blows. So that rules out both the motor and wiper stalk

 

Then it has nothing to do with the wipers. That fuse should be supplying power to the wash/wiper switch and the reverse light switch. You either have a shorted wire after the fuse or an issue in the reverse light circuit. Follow the solid green wires.

 

Ok. My reverse lights have never worked since I got the truck 6 months ago

 

Red90, thank you for your help. I found it. It was the reverse lights wiring going to the reverse switch. The wires had fallen down and shorting out on the drive shaft Once again, thank you and merry Christmas
