What is the word on the new GFT MT 82 six-speed manual gearbox in the new D90?
Will they mate up to the LT230 and the 300 tdi?
How are they for durability? I like its gearing.

If you want to shift a MT-82, then swing by your local Ford dealer on your way home and drive a stick mustang... IIRC, the mustang variants, ford Transit and defender transmission all come from the same plant in Halewood

Here is a view of the puma driveline:

And here is the 6MT1500 on Getrags website...

Compared to the R380, this is a fantastic trans - huge ratio spead (7.33 vs 4.39) compared to the R380 makes it ideal for engines with a wide torque spread - but less ideal for a road racer who wants short ratios.
I look at the above pictire of the Puma driveline, and see no reason at all why this couldn't be mated to a TDi. A new/modified flywheel housing and/or adaptor plate, and the usual flywheel/clutch combination that would be pretty easy to work out, and it'll work surely? It looks longer than the 380, so driveshaft mods, new gearbox mounts, and probably trans tunnel mounts are probably on the list, but I can't see why this wouldn't be a great upgrade for those running defenders who want a better driveline.

Is the NV4500 a six speed with similar gearing?

if you are going to all that trouble you may as well buy a "1985 rebuilt" Puma which seem to be popping up everywhere.:)
The Puma drive line consist of what?
