Follow up notes:

After you pull the old ribbon off, you use a credit card to scrape away the old glue completely as per AK speedo's instructions..
AK also said, if you look carefully you can see the lcd contact pads by angling the glass in bright light just the right way, or mark them before removing the original cable, so you fit in the same place.
The yellow part on the new strip is insulation. You cannot solder this yellowish part to the glass.
After 2 failed attempts and removals using the same new ribbon, I was still able to use a part of the new ribbon that didn’t have the insulation on it and get it working.
Lining up the new ribbon and soldering is not easy, so tape down the LCD
Next time I would order 2 new ribbon pieces just in case I needed to do it 2 times (like I did).
Also, you have to have the tool. No way to do this without it.
Be sure to pay attention to which way and where the soldered parts are before pulling the old off. Take a few pics before you do anything to the original ribbon.
