Last two days I’ve noticed a bit warmer running temp than normal and a bit of pressure on the reservoir. Head gasket job was done in November so I am exploring if it can be something else or just dive into head. All hoses seem to be hot except the one going to the reservoir from the tstat housing. I disconnected it and the flow seems very irregular. Would this possibly be related to the pump or more likely exhaust pushing the water?? Trying to load a short video for you guys, stand by…

It could be many things it could be. What I would NOT do is dive into the head without thoroughly check for what it might be, not what is suspected. Could be stuck thermostat, clogged radiator core, slipped liner, head gasket, bad coolant cap…. Dont throw parts at something and hope one helps…. Loads of tests and posts on similar conditions. Could be your gauge and sender. I’d start verifying if your gauge is accurate and go from there. Stock gauges are not very accurate.

That’s an awful lot of air purging from your system. How your coolant level? Have you had coolant pushing out the overflow? There are also some simple block testers that check for exhaust in coolant. Search BT-500 Block test. You can peer into radiator through fill and see core sides but if you haven’t had it flushed in last several years, it’s good maintenance. I haven’t seen that particular symptom before so someone else may recognize it.

also, when headgasket was done, did they skim the head and/or the block?

If you drain the radiator from the lower hose and remove the fill plug from the top of the radiator you can look down inside of the core with a strong flashlight.

You'll be able to see from there if the radiator tubes are clogged

If it were to be the head gasket with the typical exhaust/coolant issue, wouldn’t water in the exhaust be noticeable? Would smoke become whitish instead of typical black diesel smoke on acceleration? Or is the leak so minimal that the primary evidence is pressure going into coolant system?
