3.5 V8 alternator differences old vs. STC234

Had a question on the STC234 alternator I picked up from UKARAUTO - supposed to be for a 95 3.5 V8

Old one looks like this -

New one looks like this:

Question is what is the connection in red? Since it appears to be missing on the new one...looks like it goes to the coil?

Last question - what about all this jazz the 3 bolt holes? Its built into the front of the old one - don't need?

OK thanks - got connections sorted. Big issue with the shaft size on the STC234 - a bit bigger than the old one so the small fan, pulleys and shims do not work. Is there a kit that comes with this alternator? I would have thought it would be included - or recommended to buy since it is bigger than the OEM one.
