I bought mine from LRS off-road in the UK. I don't recall the exact cost. I know lucky 8 also stocks them in the US.

Stone protection - it's pretty solid but I might add some rubber protection. The base is protected by a very solid carrier.

Not sure what you mean about below the chassis ... ?

Did you remove this completely? Does that effect your ability to use seatbelts on that side of the rear or how does its removal effect things?
I'm going to replace the bar with a metal plate and bolt the seatbelt a into that. To be honest I rarely take rear passengers and they'd be screwed in an accident anyway ... With or without seatbelts.

I just finished this install yesterday in my 97 SW. The directions are pretty awful, but when finished it is nicely done. HOWEVER, this is a 9 litre tank (a little over 2 gallons!). Several ppl stated that it was 5 gallons on various websites, and sadly it is not, but hey, every little bit helps.

Long story short, the charcoal canister does need to be relocated toward the front of the wheel well, and on a SW there is a hang down connector with a pin towards the top rear that needs to be removed (it just unscrews). All other brackets that hold the seat belts can remain.

It looks clean and it’s pretty quality, but not too sure about all that work for 2 gallons.

Which one did you buy ... because mine DEFINITELY holds about 7 gallons ... Did you fit the bottom balance tube?

Every tank I've seen is 40-45L which is about 10 us gallons. I have never seen a 2 gallon tank fo the rear arch well but for 2 gallons, it wouldn't be worth it in my book. This is on my 2014 list to do, but for 10 gallons.

Yes that exact model ... I bought mine from the UK.

If you go back through this thread you can see some photo's I posted of the install which confirms it's the same.

Well, looks like I’m wrong, and glad to be! 7 Gallons makes me feel a lot better. I will confirm at the next fill up that it indeed takes me up to an extra 7 gallons.

Every site says 30 litres, so it looks to be worth the effort.

Hmmm...
It might be 7 gallons, but it sure doesn’t look like it to me.

Yes, sir, on the balance tube.
You'll be able to feel the size when you fill up and it costs 50% more!

Also being able to comfortably drive further and not have gas anxiety every time you take the truck out is also another benefit.

The balance tube is the trickiest part of the install ... but it's still DIY able.

Yeah, it is tricky, but it wasn’t that bad. A couple of notes for those that do this:

The rear sway bar bracket stays where it is on the truck. The tank cradle butts right up to it and installs in the factory holes that are already there in the skid plate. You use one current bolt that is already there, and you will need one more bolt that you will have to provide.

Also, when lining up the right side “L” bracket, there will be no factory bolt that the directions refer to on a SW. You will just have to guess where to mount it. Just make sure that the bottom of the tank fits in the bracket so that it is level and at tub level (It will line up directly with the fender well above the shock, not below tub level at all.

You are thinking about 110 arch tanks. This thread is about ones for a 90.

edit: Oops, you already noticed....

I recently purchased this tank and was going to have it installed today by my local LR expert. I just got a call from him saying that this setup isn't street legal in California due to SMOG regulations. The stock tank has a flapper about 3" down the neck to prevent fumes/splashback...but the new tank has a much shorter neck that's roughly 2" long. With the lack of room, it doesn't appear that there is an easy way to add a flapper in the new shorter neck. So the setup would work fine from a user standpoint, but the SMOG inspector would fail my car and I wouldn't be able to renew my registration.

Other users won't run into this issue in other states, but as for now I can't use it while I'm living in California unless I can figure out a way to update this tank filler to adhere to SMOG regulations here. If anyone else has run into this issue and figured out a work around, please let me know!

So .... I think it should be possible to cut an old flapper out of a filler and install it in aluminum filler tube that comes with this tank.

I haven't done it but hey how hard could it be.

A trip to a junk yard is needed!

Can someone with this aux tank installed tell me what size tire will fit? Rovers North states states the tank won't work with oversized tires. Will a 2" lift make any difference? Bottom line, is anyone running 2" lift and 33" tires with no wheel spacers?

I ran mine with standard size wheels and tyres with snow chains at winter romp with only minor scuffing of the tank at full articulation. Nothing I would be concerned about.

I think i'm running 32's now and have no issues.

Jimmy is running skinny 33's and i don't think he has any issues.
