One of my older parishioners has a new hobby and made me the biggest keychain I’ve ever seen! Never stop learning new things.

I have two sets of hardware, one for pickup too, one for soft top. Finding the bolts was the time waster. I can get mine done under an hour, but me and the 13 year old did it in 31 minutes this year.
Must be divine intervention, then. There's just me, and I do split the hard top into 2 pieces for easier storage, but that doesn't add that much time. Ziploc bags and a sharpie keeps hardware organized.

RIVNUTS (no, not everywhere) ARE YOUR FRIEND. Not so much divine intervention, but the 13 year old is a dancer and has choreographed the whole process to Hamilton, the musical thing.

And no, there is no video…

I bought a Front Runner rack on Black Friday so I put it together and installed it today. I did replace all the hardware with marine grade stainless steel. I had read on several forms that people had issues with the newer stuff rusting pretty badly. I ordered everything from McMaster Carr. They also had military grade nylon washers so I ordered a bunch to separate everything.
I didn't install the wind blocker because it was steel, but holy hell, the wind noise is awful. I'll have to fabricate an aluminum one soon. I don't drive it in the winter ( if winter will ever gets here) so it's not an issue now.
I also bought the expedition rails, but I cut the bars short in the front and rear to leave about an 20" gap so I can haul lumber, ladders, and a kayak.

I tuned up the diesel heater to run (relatively) clean at all power levels and then rigged up my home automation system to allow for the truck to pre-warm the block heater as well as fire up the Afterburner (aftermarket diesel heater controller). This is all automatically triggered by an alarm on my cell phone that says I want to leave at xx:xx so 90 minutes ahead of time, flip the block heater on, stop the flip/flop logic to toggle between the Defender and Dodge, and 30 mins later, fire up the diesel heater.

Testing today shows that it warms up about 20 degrees/30 mins, so this should get it nice and toasty for me to hop in an hour later!

Took the old new VGT turbo out and ordered another new VGT turbo🤦‍♂️
300tdi? Do you have an old, but functional wastegate (iron downpipe) and actuator? Mine is not opening at all and I’m tired of managing boost psi with my accelerator pedal.

Pre-hung a couple doors last week. Much better than the "rags in the wind" that they replaced. Pulled them off yesterday and will blow some paint in the up-coming days.

Finally found the "wholy grail" thermostat housing. So, hopefully l'll have the engine assembled completely over the holidays.

Would be nice to get this thing running again, even considering the $5.49 diesel prices.

Removed the ALDA and boy is it smoother now. Something tells me the ALDA on my OM617 had been gang banged more than a few times before I got the vehicle.

Smooth idle and amazing pedal response. Slowly cranking the manual boost controller now. So far no smoke while cruising and much much better acceleration. I may look for a newish unmolested ALDA and play with that but for now it feels like a new motor.

Fixed an issue that had me thinking oil spills every time I jumped on the truck to drive it. I’ll be replacing the lines with AN línea when I upgrade the oil cooler. For now she’s leak proof at least in that area. Darn OM617 motor leaks oil from everywhere lol oh yeah, the ALDA is deleted as of a month ago. Much better driving off pedal as well.
