If anyone is looking for a shop in Jacksonville, FL, a buddy of mine recommends The Metric System garage. They do work on his RRC and he said they're inexpensive and very responsive. Not sure if they do Defenders, but he said they specialize in British cars.

I thought it would be helpful to start pulling everyone's favorite shops together in one thread and especially helpful for those traveling to have a list in case they are broken down in an unfamiliar place.

So, I will start with my two local independent rover places. Both are great and run by great people with good service and fair prices.

http://www.roverrepairs.com/

Frank Dalahan, 301 Macdade Blvd, Collingdale, PA 19023 (outside Philadelphia) 484-494-9133

HugeDomains.com - RoverLab.com is for sale (Rover Lab)

Trevor Griffiths, 2477 Old Hershey Road, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 (outside Harrisburg) 717-367-0176

If you use this format, at the end of the thread I can pull them all together and put them in excel.
Anyone for la?

Do you recommend Royal Overland over Austin Roverworks? @LuisC recommended them in Austin in a similar thread (Land Rover Mechanic Directory). I'm moving to north Austin in July and could use some help.

Respectfully,

John
Hey John-
Ken at AUstin Roverwerks is great. He does a lot more service type jobs than we do and he services newer cars as well (my cutoff is 1996) My guys and I really focus on fabrication and heavily involved projects. That said we recently hired an additional tech to backfill the shops service side, and have expanded a bit to non-LR suspension projects and overland/expedition outfitting.
I really prefer a Land Rover community where we can all work together, and share customers in such a way to let each shop do what they’re best at without contention over lost business or loyalty and such. Depending on what you would need, either ARW or Royal could be the desired choice.

Whenever you will make it over the pond to Europe and your rick break down near Bremen (this is a small town in the North of Germany), I'll be happy to get you a home during the needed time to calm down, having a look at the landscape and waiting for the remastered Defender. ;)

Just moved from Charleston, SC to Tallahassee, FL. Any recommendations in the Tallahassee/N. Florida panhandle area?
There are a few of us on this board in the Tallahassee area, which may be helpful since there are no dedicated Rover shops. It's hit or miss with the independent shops, though I seem to recall one in Thomasville with older LR experience, but not sure if they're still working on these trucks.

Good to know. Hopefully some of us can get together sometime!
