The [Un]Official Where to Get Your Rover Fixed Thread

I thought it would be helpful to start pulling everyone's favorite shops together in one thread and especially helpful for those traveling to have a list in case they are broken down in an unfamiliar place.

So, I will start with my two local independent rover places. Both are great and run by great people with good service and fair prices.

http://www.roverrepairs.com/

Frank Dalahan, 301 Macdade Blvd, Collingdale, PA 19023 (outside Philadelphia) 484-494-9133

http://www.roverlab.com/

Trevor Griffiths, 2477 Old Hershey Road, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 (outside Harrisburg) 717-367-0176

If you use this format, at the end of the thread I can pull them all together and put them in excel.

Hi Alex -
I was also very interested in feedback on RoadsideWerx in Colorado, but since I have not seen any other responses, I thought I would share my experience so far. First in full disclosure, I have not had Matt work on anything of mine, but I have had him inspect a D90 I am considering purchasing - He could not have been more helpful, and took a lot of time showing me the pros and cons of the Defender I am looking at. I have also called and visited his shop a number of times with other questions and he is quick to respond and seems to be extremely knowledgeable - he has been a NAS D90 owner since the mid-90s, but always has a few ROW 90s and 110s in the shop - Have seen a few of his diesel conversions/replacements and they look nice and clean.
As I am considering having him do quite a bit of work on my next purchase, I would welcome your feedback if you give Matt a try.
Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback.

I've been using Eurasian here in Boulder for my current stuff. It started when I needed my oil cooler lines re-built on the 110. He is also Boulder Hydraulics.

He's been very aware of his time and my wallet which I appreciate. He also gets the truck turned around quickly. They have experience with the VW Tdi so they didn't run when I rolled in with the 300 Tdi. He has a lot of Rover experience too, I'm planning to take my NAS 90 to him when I need to.

I'd still like to meet Matt, it would be nice to have a diesel mechanic who stocks the common parts and works on the motor consistently.
Any suggestions for repair shops in Atlanta?
How about a shop in Wisconsin? I do most things myself but if something more serious would happen I'd hate to have to tow it to Chicago.

Urban Land Cruisers in Atlanta does repairs, I couldn't recommend them. I have heard of some good shops in Atl, but can't remember the names off hand.
I couldn't recommend them either. I have no basis whatsoever for recommending them.

I had great experience with Matt at RoadSideWerx. I bought my Hi Cap out there and Matt helped me inspect it, fix a few things and even loaded on a transport truck for me to ship to Virginia. He was knowledgeable and and made good suggestions on what to fix and what I could live with for a while until I became more knowledgable about my new truck.
Santa Monica area-

With Four Oaks Garage now closed, what shop are owners moving to?
Anyone know of any good shops in Greenville, SC and/or Columbia, SC? I recently purchased a '97 NAS and am sure I'll be looking for a mechanic relatively soon.

I've got a kick ass guy in Charleston, SC. Pm me. Do NOT set a foot inside AA auto aka Charleston Rover Services. They are a complete joke. Tyler
Land Rover Mechanic near Chicago (Highland Park)

I recommend Imports Unlimited in Highland Park. They do a great job with our 1994 NAS D90 and 2008 Range Rover. Very knowledgeable, practical and a good value!

Road Britannia in Buckhead. I have not had any work done there, but I stopped in and spoke once when I was in town. They seemed to have worked on a lot of defenders. They had three d90s and a 110 in for work when I stopped by. Like I said I havnt had work done there, but definitely a place to check out.

Hi, new to the forum and to Land Rover ownership. Does anyone know of some good service places around the Stamford, CT area, or even more broadly around the NYC area. Heck to find a good, reputable shop, I would look all over NY, NJ, Penn and New England.

I have a 110 with a 2.4 Puma engine
SW Speedometer
12134 Woodruff Ave in Downey, CA

Took my '94 NAS to him to correct my stock speedometer after a GBR 4.43 r/p swap a year ago. He manufactured an inline conversion box in front of the VSS within 4 hours for $200.

Nice guy, good work, fair price if you want to keep the stock speedo.

Woodside Auto in Redwood city[/URL] did some awesome (and reasonably priced) work for me on my 200TDi D110. Breaks tuned, steering adjusted, and new intercooler + turbo installed with fuel pump tuning.

REALLY happy with their work. I know Cerrano's has been recommended in this thread before but at the time of this posting they weren't available (maybe down a few mechanics?) and apparently they partner with Woodside Auto on their defender work anyway.

Highly recommended.

Worldwide 4x4 Workshop Map

Hello everybody,

I have created recently a worldwide workshop map. I thought it might be interesting for all Defender lovers to know where one can get a help on the road and get back on track. Feel free to register. Link to my Homepage should be on my profile.

Happy sharing! :)

Any Defender Work Needed In San Diego?

I brought my 1989 Defender 90 to Lucra Cars in San Marcos, and was amazed with the work they did. Making sure everything on the car looked like it was in brand new condition, and using all OEM parts. They do all Kinds of work on defenders too, anywhere from full restorations, to minor engine repair or maintenance. If you need any work done to your defender, make sure this is the first place you look.

Denver area: Roadside Werx (A+ shop)

Just wanted to write a quick post to thank and recommend a shop I've been using extensively for the past ~6 months here in Denver, Colorado.

Roadside Werx is hands down the best Land Rover Defender shop I have ever worked with.

Matt and his team operate with full integrity and are completely plugged in to the international Defender community, which makes it possible for them to source hard to find parts (new and used).

The guys do grade A work, do not skip corners, and execute with superb attention to detail. They are also incredibly patient and put up with a ton of very picky requests from me (I can get OCD when it comes to my vehicles).

I cannot say enough good things. Having hired or worked with a number of Land Rover mechanics across Massachusetts, NYC, Long Island, Virginia and now Colorado, I can honestly and confidently say these guys are the best.

Thanks Matt and Jordan for all the work, advice, and last minute fixes before my drive North!

For what it's worth, I'll also try to qualify my statements above by saying a little about my own level of mechanical expertise (or lack there of). I am what I'd call a "hobby mechanic." I've done suspension jobs, exhausts, starters, intakes, headlights, radiators, intercoolers, and I even did a full motor and transmission swap with the help of some friends last summer. However, I am definitely not a professignal and I trust the work of guys like Roadside Werx more than my own.

I would have to second this post. Matt and his team are the best. You know you will gt an honest answer / quote, and they can do the custom work you can dream up!!
