Hey everyone,
I'm getting ready to install a Rover V8 4.0 into my 71 Series IIa. Will also be installing an R380 & LT230, P38 power steering and D1 axles. Will the V8 4.0 bellhousing work or will it be too long? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Bob

What r380 do you have ? If you are asking if the auto v8 bellhousing works , it will not. You need a v8 bellhousing made for v8 r380. There used to be or might still be aftermarket options to use different r380 with aftermarket bell housing to the v8.

The V8 4.0, R380 & LT230 are out of a D1. I’m trying to determine if the entire setup will be too long for a IIa 109.

Are you planning on converting the shifter to defender style? If so it can fit. I did one on a 88. 4.0 gems, defender r380, lt230. I did switch the front cover to a gems p38 to make the front of the motor slimmer. Transmission tunnel and bulkhead were also modified.
