What did you use for engine transmission transfer case?

4.0 gems setup from a d1
It's not too long? I haven't measured but I wonder where the shift lever ends up.
This is where it ended up on my similar build.

The frame is a custom frame.

The motor is a 4.0 as Doug mentioned
The front cover is d2
the alternator and bracket is D2 and the PS and pump is P 38 gems with custom PS line
kul. Very good to know. Is this with the breakfast and radiator in the original position?
What differences are there from a standard chassis?

2A is 88 inch wheelbase, Defender is 90 inches. Rear wheel opening would be too far forward for a Defender chassis.
after market radiator ,,, in general location. yes stock breakfast..
ill take some pictures
Nice Ron....lookin good mate. My R380 and Lt230 fit just fine on the Lightweight....but to keep the breakfast in position we had to get creative with the radiator :)

Bill,
A D90 is a 92.9" wheelbase.

Thanks. I don't/haven't owned one.

Automatic so by switching to a lokar shifter- the shifter can come up through the boot if you’re clever. Forget what Ron has going on for a tunnel. We stopped by on way back from ROMP and got it running and the lights working.

Completely custom chassis built by Drew Swoboda & Mike McCaig here in Va. The only series parts used (new from RN) were the bulkhead outriggers and rear tub crossmember. Once complete it was sand blasted to improve adhesion and hot dip galvanized. Otherwise it’s all coiler with removable crossmember, 4 bolt steering box, 24 spline axles, stock 90 radius arms, trailing arms, a frame etc. Frame was designed to center rear tire in wheel opening.
The engine front cover was swapped to the shorter p38/d2 type & corresponding cast aluminum oil pan. Design is very well thought out & cool.

Ron, is it Series bulkhead or Defender with Series tray welded on? Need legroom. Price? Year- early or late II-a?
thanks- you coming down next w/e for Safari?
Looks like a S-IIa bulkhead to me.

Nice build! I bet the frame making was not as complex as it sounds... Great looking project!
Soooo.. this truck is beautiful in person, Ron does an excellent job of paying attention to his builds and assembly. It certainly far exceeds his lengthy and well documented for sale post.
