What weight and brand oil would you all recommend for an 86' 110 with the 2.5 na diesel? I'm in the northeast. Won't drive much in winter but will go out a few times.

Did a forum search and didn't come up with anything. Thanks

Any regular Diesel engine oil should be fine. They are normally a 15W-40.

Chevron Delo 400LE is good and easy to find.

I use Schaefer but it's very hard to locate.

A brick of 22's in NJ would mark you as having a cache of ammunition!

Rosella from Walmart is about as inexpensive as it gets. That and a box of .22lr and you just had a Dave day.:grin

Out West they would call you an underachiever. :thumb:
And in the south they'd call you a hoarder for buying the one box that made up their entire stock...after waiting 20 minutes for the one person in the store, who is apparently an enigma wrapped in a mystery to the rest of the staff, with the key to the ammo counter...

I use the best oil I can get. Royal purple 20-50 in summer and any 5W40 - 100% synthetic in winter. No need to use cheap oil when you can have the best. The difference in price per mile is meaningless

Having a hard time finding the correct oil filter here in the US.

Looking for a Bearmach ERR3340. This is for an 86' defender 110.... 2.5 na. I can find ones on ebay and amazon Land Rover Genuine. They show only correct for the 93' defender. Are they compatible?

Cheers.

ERR3340 isn't specific to an '86 defender 110 - they're compatible across a great many defenders including our NAS (north american spec) ones.

I prefer synthetics and after some back and forth with Mobil's Tech Reps, I settled on Mobil1 5w-50 in my newly rebuilt 2.5NA. Meets SAE CF and ACEA diesel specs and isn't a low SAPS oil; it has adequate additive levels for older cars, though this may not be an issue w/ our roller followers. No scientific proof, but it pumps up fast and holds good pressure.

AB or Rovah Farm have good pricing on the Mahle OC261 filters, their ERR3340 equivalent.
