Rear door lock mod

Has anyone tried to modify the older rear door lock to put the vertical wire in it so that I can pull this off. I don't feel like spending $150 for a used setup when I have most of what I need if I can get it to work. I was going to tie it in to my power locks. This is a factory setup in the pic. I'd like to do it like we this so I don't have stuff hanging out of the door card. Thanks

S&P in the UK will sell you a matched set of door locks with hardware for short money.

Not sure modification is possible, IIRC the unit is sealed

It can be opened up and modified, I’ve got pictures of this somewhere. I’ve been wanting to do this so I can create 4x power door locks on a lift-up handle 110. Still thinking my way through it.
