The rear brake light on the window looks like it is held on with black glue that has been there since '95. What would you recommend would keep it on for another 25+ years.

Look up 3m windshield urethane. When I've used they've been black goop as you describe.. Make sure to clean site well with solvent like acetone or similar.

I used the rear view mirror kit from pepboys.

It’s supposed to be held on with two metal studs bonded to the glass. Have used windshield rear view mirror adhesive to remount the studs in the pastt
