For many years I ran 265/75R16 tires with a 1.2 TC. This worked well in the flats of Western Europe and the UK but became a challenge when I moved to Colorado Springs and later to the mountains of NC.
Two years ago I swapped out the 1.2 for a 1.4 TC and added an overdrive unit. This seemed to be the perfect combination...until I added 307/70R16 tires (32.8 and an inch wider the 285/75R16) a few months ago. Now it's noticeably slower to accelerate and requires more down-shifting on the hills and less up-shifting on the flats.
Sometimes it's good to know when to say when.
