I am running a Roamerdrive in my 110 TD5 with 285/75R16 (32.8") and stock transfer case

No issues with drivability on the highway, on the flats I can quite comfortably cruise at 130kmh (80 mph) on flats. If I hit an incline, drop it to 4th and power through, or 3rd if I have to.

The Roamerdrive is a 28% increase in gearing, and can left engaged through all gears. I have on occasion forgotten to disengage after coming to a stop, and the resulting start reminds you quickly that it's engaged.

I have done a couple long trips with it, Vancouver to Moab, Vancouver Joshua Tree, couldn't imagine doing those trips without it.

I took the Roamerdrive unit out 3 years ago. I failed in catastrophic fashion the first time, leaving me stranded on the roadside. They claimed my driving style and having a chipped ECU did the damage. Truth, I drive my truck like an old man... it's a diesel truck, not a race car. There is no way that a small amount of additional power is going to create issues when driven 99.9% on road, under minimal load without towing. It's their way of getting out of warranty.

None the less, being that Roamerdrive is only a few miles from where I was living at the time I took it to them and they rebuilt it.I had bought it from them directly, and took it to them directly for repair. Once fixed, I picked it up and It was reinstalled at my local shop (on my dime) and right away was making some unsettling grinding noises. Turns out they said there were a 'few bits" still on the bench after the rebuild, but apparently not crucial. I refused to pay for the rebuild until it was working correctly, and was not willing to pay for another re & re based on their rebuild error. It's a standoff.... I eventually removed the unit and have left it out. Worst customer experience of my life.

I try to support local businesses, but I can't in this case. Then they call my local shop where I paid to have the unit removed and reinstalled, telling them they "owed Roamerdrive" for the rebuild and if they didn't pay, they would not support them as a dealer. Brutal.

Just my experience...

I refurbished one last year. Please have a look. Sorry it's in german language.

I should have sent mine to you for a rebuild! Easy enough to translate the page through Chrome, looks like you are well versed with the internal workings. Any issues finding replacement parts?
