MOD hvac unit

I’m installing a MOD dash now along with the hvac unit. I should have it working in about a week. I’ll let you know what I think. Keep I mind it’s going to be running off a GM compressor if that makes any difference.

I'm planning on buying one in the next month but have yet to see any reports from folks driving around with one running...very interested in any experiences others have had.

Does this use the existing lower dash as the vents / ducting?

Oh no, it comes integrated with a whole new Puma dash.
No, that’s not true. They designed the heater/ac unit with their puma style dash in mind, but it can be used on a standard dash. They have posted pictures of them adapting one of their hvac units to a standard dash by adding two additional vents in the center Mud style console.

My concern with it being used with the old style lower dash is that the lower dash gets extremely hot. If anybody can post pics of a retrofitted system that would be great

I didn't see the video of the older dash install but I have to say that looks like a real winner for MOST of the defender guys out there. I was converting from RHD to LHD anyway so a Puma dash made more sense financially. Just imagine having good working AC and Heat without having to have the knee freezer installed. Plus, it looks to be significantly cheaper.

No, mine is not installed yet so can't comment on how it works but based on jonathans videos I have to assume he fully understands what is expected of such an upgrade and is providing that product in spades.

My friend had the first one that was installed in a RHD 300TDI by the owner of the company this year. I saw it in person and was very impressed. When the time comes, I will definitely have Jonathan install one in my 300TDI.

Its great to hear from someone across the pond that can actually lay eyes on these things. Hes got a great operation going there. Since you also have a defender did it seem dramatically improved with heat/AC?

Mine will arrive Monday,
Before all the bashing of this AC unit starts.
I've bought into a butt load of ideas from this site.
This seems like a very Good idea for my purposes idea to cool the cabin of my 110,..3 door, not 4 door, with the ability to close off the rear section tacky as it can be.
Will be loosing HP for the engine change to accommodate AC but I'm not as young as I use to be appreciating little things like AC and not going 80mph down the roadway( & who'd be silly enough for that in a 110 lifted?)

Some of us aren't as well off as most here saving like stupid to do little things to make the most of what we have,I'm silly enough to spent on ideas that just didn't work out, n going back to basics, example, Dumping hp for ac with a defender 200tdi.

Soooo, let it be known how old your ride is, 90,110 age seals ect, before bashing this.
Most of you buying this can also afford the rear AC offered to make your Defender like a Modern Day 30year Newer Vehicle

All said as politely as possible knowing most of us have water leaks

Just go buy a jeep softrop
:)

Edit;
& before the elbows leave the arm chair's,
My 110 run smoothly with an om617, m-pumped 7.5mm,315 injectors, larger 72mm turbo intercooler in 112° south west runs, so hot the hand brake and gear shifter levers metal are too hot to mess with,at 1050egt's at 65mph all going back into cabin area.

Any AC and insulation works for my needs, just too f-ing hot to enjoy the experience,
Will to try it.

Yes, the fan speed and amount of air it was pushing out was impressive. I didn't try the heat as it was in June. I was very impressed with the whole setup.
