great work as usual Don!Cleaning the chamber was the biggest pain in the ass on this job
Thanks!great work as usual Don! out of curiosity, how did you clean the chambers?
nice Don - just thought I'd check to see what others didThanks! Combination of paper towels wrapped around a screwdriver and Q-tips dipped in acetone. The Q-tips worked the best but I used about 10 each chamber! ------ Follow up post added February 23rd, 2016 07:42 PM ------ Btw - got it done and a quick start in the garage. A little smoother running but not a huge difference. Still throwing some exhaust smoke. But I feel like I need to take it for a good run and have get to operating temps to see for sure if the new injectors helped or not.
Any chance you can post a pic? The alt fan won't clear the steering box. Also, the engine fan will hit the box as well.I have completed it - no issues with alternator clearance.
Please post some pictures of your install because your interference statements are incorrect no disrespect intended, probably a bogus install if the kit came from me.Any chance you can post a pic? The alt fan won't clear the steering box. Also, the engine fan will hit the box as well.
Most 617s haze cold.Thanks!

Still no real time with it yet. Was redoing my hood and while at it starting to redo some wiring. Hoping this time next week I'll get it out for a solid run.Did you have a chance to run it down the road today, Don? Fingers crossed for you!
I got them from Greazzer on PeachParts/SuperturboDiesel - great guy to deal with.Where'd ya fins the 315's, be next on my bucket list
Thanks for the info. Sounds like you have a lot of experience with this engine. Most 617s haze cold.
Hazing hot at idle, not so good.
I'm assuming the valves are adjusted and you have confirmed pump and cam timing.
If compression is pretty equal, within 20psi or so cold, closer hot) and pump and cam timing are right it might be time to get a pump built for it. I might have a 85 core laying around.
Thanks Scrubs - I really need to just get this out on the road for extended periods.Don, mine will run soooooooo much better after a long 5 hour trip, don't know why, but it seems to be the trick
