I just used the stock Merc one - any chance you can source one of them? I did have to mod the bottom of the DP and increased the OD to 2.5"
I may go back at some time and do a true 2.5" DP tho.
I just used the stock Merc one - any chance you can source one of them? I did have to mod the bottom of the DP and increased the OD to 2.5"We pretty much have the same stuff left... But you are one step ahead of me because you have a downpipe. I'm going to try and find someone to do at least the first bend and a flex pipe this weekend!
Haha - I like that idea. Well - if I end up doing the DP over I might have to do the same!I'm dead set on doing an immediate expansion to 3" right after the flange. I figure I'll appreciate the extra flow as I start to tune her!
Parts for intake are on the way. Will post photos of the mockup if it works and will let you know what parts I used.Haha - I like that idea. Well - if I end up doing the DP over I might have to do the same! If you can post up what you are doing about the air intake - trying to figure out a clean setup. Was going to go the stock Merc air filter canister but things are tight with the heater box and windshield washer canister.
please share don!Pics in route, share if u like
That's with stock IP and your foot in it, but not all the way down to the floor.Robert, your 75mph speeds--is that with the boot on the throttle? Curious what you get at a comfortable throttle input.
I remember now - will look up those emails. I'll have to fiddle with it once I am done with the rest of the build.Don, took a bit to figure the full travel on the IJ pump, when figured out ran just fine. Pretty sure we talked via email last year about it ;-)
That stop is a manual shutoff that isn't needed when you connect up the vacuum shut-off button. Thanks for uploading the pics Robert - was a busy day yesterday.
Here is a pic of mine after some fiddling last night:

I can get the STOP to engage but it seems the throttle side doesn't have much. I took the bolt out of the accelerator pedal so it has full travel.
Might just have to start it and see how it revs/feels.
When revved off idle, the engine sounds like a V8 gasser...In other news, went back out today to fire up the engine just for kicks and it was the fastest and smoothest starting diesel I've ever been around. Can't wait to get this thing rolling.
Sorry to hear. Sure it's not a loose downpipe and exhaust just coming thru?My conversion is practically complete... So naturally on a recent test-start I noticed exhaust coming from the heater output (no coolant added yet). Everything I know tells me this is a head/head gasket issue. Awesome. Truck idles, revs fine. But has never been run under load or more than 60 seconds. So now it's a matter of deciding if I finish the install and attempt to drive... Or go backwards 6-12 months and start with a different engine.
