I'm selling Land Rover, model Defender
110, year 1996, 2.5 diesel engine, 300 TDI
(Euro 1), imported from Brazil.

The vehicle was recently overhauled and
renovated, internal lining, painting, ALL
mechanical, electrical. Brake systems
were replaced by Hidrobuster and cooling
system, PU polyethylene bushings), new
tires, new paint, double air conditioning
and several other accessories.... perfect
structure and operation. It doesn't have
any rust
The car is in Massachusetts.

Nice truck. Like a diesel with NAS bulkhead and aircon. Curious as to why the snorkel is on the right hand side. Typically 300tdi's intake and snorkel are on the left. I wonder if it has to do with the dash and aircon setup.

Depends on which side the steering wheel is on. RHD- intake is on the right, LHD- it's on the left.

A few things to note on that

  • The snorkel is on the LH side, normally a 300tdi would be on the RH side(300tdi, Td5, puma are all on RH side, 2.5/200s were on the LH). I assume this truck is on the opposite side because of the massive factory HVAC system interfering with hose routing like you mentioned
  • Not a NAS bulkhead/aircon, but yes the same style. They were offered in different parts of the world, the NAS 110 happened to also receive that treatment.
  • Only the heater intake side is decided by LHD/RHD

May I ask where you got those seats?

I always assumed that the air intake was always opposite the heater intake due to inference with the heater box components.

Nope, only heater intake changes. I believe the only reason it's on the opposite side on this vehicle is because of the HVAC system

You're correct Zach I should have said NAS like bulkhead. I have RHD one sitting in my shop collecting dust, but it didn't come attached to the truck so I never really paid it much attention to which side the intake was on. I'm sure it was due to the massive HVAC system.

You might be right on this particular bulkhead and Aircon setup. Otherwise what Zach said. But this Aircon setup is so different than anything else Land Rover made. I need to look at the RHD one in my shop and see if the snorkel would be on the right side on that configuration.

Any photos of the frame? How long ago was it painted and any photos before painting? Was much bonds used?
Has anyone had any type of response from seller?

I’ sure it can be converted… for a small fee….
Don’t know where this truck is in Mass, but if it’s not too far happy t go put eyes on it for you.
FYI - no responses from seller here but this is now up for auction at Restored 1996 Land Rover Defender 110 300Tdi 5-Speed|Formula Auctions

I probably would have been convinced on LHD if I could have gotten some answers but have already committed elsewhere with a deposit
