Ok it's launch time. So we shove off from Detroit in about an hour. Need to get to Dunsmore Pennsylvania before 7 am tomorrow morning for the start of the Rally. From there it's 3000 miles in 4 days, ending in Leeds Alabama Friday.

Both drivers seats work, heater works, wipers squirt, but they only cover 2/3 of the area they are supposed to. no cruise control, no brake booster. trans if iffy, sealed up gaps from faulty rear window, side windows and rust holes, so it's on

If this belongs in the trip section, can someone with power do that pleazse!

Sounds like a trip Jeremy Clarkson would try to pull off.
How long have you owned this RR?

Lets have a poll on what will break first. I vote for air suspension.

For as Clarkson said, the most unreliable car in the world is the most reliable.
I'm going for the long shot..... no problems!!!!
Reminds me of Janey the 110.

Sounds like our 110 trip from Birmingham, AL to Anchorage, AK...If your rig suddenly dies while cruising, be sure to check the coil wire! :rolleyes ;)

Have a blast, and be sure to post pictures...Maybe get AAA too! :thumb:

The will to go on! Jk. Big cojones, sir. Good luck!

My money is on the viscous couple. I hope I'm wrong ;-)

Yeah not a good feeling especially when your in the left lane of the freeway. Make sure they're not close the the exhaust manifold. :whistling:
progress disaster and a kindered spirit

Ok guys, just to update you. made it 500 miles to the start, driving through snow for the last 200 miles. The only thing I have in our favor is the dang thing is so dang good in the snow.

Today, we went from Scranton to Buffalo, snowed almost all the way there, roads slushy. Found all of our targets in buffalo, and headed for Pittsburgh, Winter storm warnings, lots of slush and snow, and the rover never even noticed - except the driver side Wiper blade is off center, so it only cleans 1/2 of the window.

Ran into a British Bloke who has a really nice green 3 door 110. Apparently he heard about our expedition from Stuart Foley, and Stuart put him up to it. He got about 100 miles into it, before he got pulled over by the Hiway Patrol - had French Licence plates. we ran together to Buffalo, but got separated in the scramble to find way points. He did make it to Pittsburgh though,

which is better than we did, after fighting through all that snow and ice, 40 miles from Pittsburgh it changed to rain, we are just cruising along, and out of no where the complete top of a car is laying upside down in the lane. someone on my left - nothing to do but hit it square.

Probably got off easy, only lost one tire, but the original jack did not work, and the lug wrench was missing. ended up getting flat towed to town, where we hope to find a tire , a bottle jack and a lug wrench and continue.

Bad news is that chasing parts in the morning probably assures we will not be able to get to all the waypoints tomorrow (more snow forcast - yeah)!

To answer a few questions, we bought the rover off the junk heap 3 weeks ago, and got it running specifically for this event.

what has failed on this event - check engine light came on, matches with the brake light, traction control and something else.

Trans is starting to feel a bit wonkey, and wants to die when you throw it in reverse.

I wanted to run the 110 tithonis I just bought, but it hasn't madce it across the pond yet!

Trouble is you put in 14 hour days driving, and its dark cold and wet when you get in, and no stores open for parts, so you pretty much are in survival mode.

Tommorrow - we need to get it back on the road, and get to the end point, that sets us up for Day 3 - running the Dragons Tail, while buying and eating 6 waffles per team member!

And yeah, both my brother and i have premium AAA - we figure we have 800 miles of tows to use up - 100 each for 4 days

Luckily we were in the right lane! :thumb:

Sorry for the troubles but it sounds like it wasn't tooooo bad of a day! Hope you're able to get going again tomorrow at a decent hour! Good luck and have fun!
Epic!!! All the best in getting back into it tomorrow. Hope the tyre is all that is damaged. Are you swapping two or is your spare about equally worn? Or maybe at this point it really won't matter. lol

You have any Lucas stabilizer in the tranny? Sounds cheesy, but I swear by the stuff. 255k on one of mine! Still silky.

Oh, and where are the dang pics??? ;-)
Sounds like 5000 miles of Lemons treasure hunt. Epic indeed.
What year Classic?
There has to be someone in the area to help you out.
Check engine light is probably an o2 sensor fail. Traction control light is likely on due to the road conditions. Could be bad sensor on the rear wheel...either no good or not fully seated.
If it made it this far it'll probably finish OK. Just check that the trans fluid is still red and not burnt brown.
