Just got done replacing the turn signal switch and the return feature. But now my head lights have stopped working. When I push the switch in, all parking lights come on, no headlights. If I press the brights on the new switch, the brights will work but when turned off, no head lights. Fuses are fine ( obviously) any ideas?

something is not fully connected, maybe a dud / failed relay. highly unlikely to have blown all 4 headlight fuses but a possibility.

One thing to note. The flash function bypasses the relay. The relay is just there to prevent the lights staying one when the ignition is off. With that said, I would look at the relay and its fuse first first and follow the power on that circuit.

Thank you for all your help.
so far here is what I have found.
power is present at the switch and all posts ( red blue and brown wire). The interesting thing is, no power at the two 7.5 fuses. They visually look good. I am trying to locate the headlight relay. I have pulled all of the relays in cabin recently, and tested them. All were 70-85 ohms (which I understand as good)

any other ideas? I think it’s the switch……

The headlight switch is before the relay. The relay is between the headlight switch and the high/low switch. Look at the wiring color codes to locate the parts. Check for power going into the di switch (solid blue wire). Ignition needs to be on and lighting switch on.

Power flow:
Link3 (60 A) - Lighting switch - Headlamp Relay - Dip Switch - 7.5 A fuses - Lights

Thank you again. I did research the diagram you sent and verified the same thing you see. The issue I have is, I can’t locate the headlight relay. I am trying to locate this now. Relay could be my issue. Funny thing is, last night while driving ( lights working) I kep hearing a relay clicking, like my blinkers were on (they weren’t). The saga continues.

solid blue wire has power when ignition and lights are turned on

when the light switch is turned on. I can turn on my brights. The lights only work when I press the brights on. That is why I think it is the switch

So the high beams work with the dip switch in the forward position? If that is the case, then the dip switch or a connector is the issue. The relay is working. Check the connector into the loom. You may just have gotten a bad switch. Did you get an OEM or Genuine one?

I haven’t replaced it yet. It is original 1997 part. I have ordered one.

That is correct. The collar was broke and return feature was messed up. Once I completed the replace of the dip switch aka turn signal switch, I drove and my lights were fine. Came home. Parked. My lights no longer worked. Only the brights Via the dipswitch

Then as I stated, bad connection or bad switch.

Did you by an aftermarket one or a Lucas one?

If high beams work in the normal position (not flash) and the low beams do not then it is the switch or a bad connection, most likely at the switch.

The dip switch. The lighting switch sends power through the relay to the dip switch. The dip switch then directs the power to either the high or low beams.
