For those of you who installed this in your Defender, how did you cut the seat box mat for the handbrake? Did you use sandwich the seat box mat between the handbrake base and the seat box or did you use spacers on the two M10 bolts?

I installed the full mat a few weeks ago and also replaced the handbrake cable, etc. The mat is sandwiched between the hand brake base and seat box, and I only cut 3 small holes for bolts and cable. All works great and look on the under side of mat, I recall it had only two/three designated (small) cut out holes/marks for the bolts/cable. I did use spacers under the seat rails.

I sandwiched the mat between the seat box and the parking brake bracket with loader bolts as well. Helps keep the mat tight on the seat box.

We have done them both ways, sandwich and cut out around. Always space the rails up

I am about to do this. Any suggestions on the right size spacers for the seat rails?

I've done it both ways as well, but I prefer to sandwich between the brake and the box. For the seats, I prefer to cutout the bolt holes and then use spacers between seat rails and the seatbox. For the spacers, I stacked 3 or 4 washers together.

That is great. A lot better than stacking washers!

I cut around for the brake and used 12mm flanged nuts for the spacers
