I know there were big changes between the model year 2000 and 2001 (parts are often different).

To import Defenders to Canada they must be 15 years old. I am wondering what I will gain if I wait a few months and get a 2001 Defender 110 TD5, I will be putting thousands into the build. I currently own three 2000's!

Thank you for the help guys! :grin

You should wait and get a late model '02 model. That has the 15P engine instead of the earlier 10P which has issues with the head. ECU is different too. Plus, the'02 has the nicer dash.

You could bring in an '01 already. The importation law at 15 years, is actually to the date of manufacture, not year model. My 2000 Td5 was brought in September of last year, as it was actually manufactured in August of 1999. The vin sticker (should be on the left wall of the drivers toe box) will show the actual date it was made.

Hm, haven't located this sticker yet. I was under the impression you could only find the Manufacture Date by calling Land rover. Big news if this is not the case. Do you have a picture?

In LATE 2001 models (but Still a 2001), It seems you have the better dash/command console. And I assume the better TD5 as well. Late 2001 has the single stamped rear door to.
Other than the new style rear circle Fog/reverse lights.. is there any differance from an EARLY 2001 (No dash, No rear door) and a 2000 model?

Ps, Hi Scott! :)
