The market for used cars in general is down across the board (and probably has not hit bottom yet)--Hargerty's estimate of 18% off of July 2022 prices sounds reasonable to me. For a BAT-like audience, replacing the interior, respraying, and replacing the soft-top if it is tired, would probably pay for itself (personally, I like a nice interior, but would much rather have an authentic patina than some shiny paint that will look terrible the first time it gets dinged or pin-striped).

My 2c is NAS mkt is gradually growing more into 2 split markets and bid/offer has widened for both. Decent condition higher miles trucks are in the price context above and very low mile collector grade STs are almost double.

I’d say fastbacks are less common than NAS trucks with a full cage. But I wouldn’t call them rare…they are exactly the same as a full cage NAS, except they are missing parts of the cage. Every NAS ST can be a fastback, that’s why I wouldn’t consider them rare.

Given how valuable the original cage components have become, I’m of the opinion that fastbacks are less valuable than a fully caged NAS (all else being equal).

considering the safari cage is uber rare to find either new or in good condition - I'd agree that a fastback truck without the safari cage is worth less than a fully caged NAS.

The fastback top is cool and definitely rarer that any other top (other than the original trickford now)

I’m guessing $5k - $10k, depending on how bad somebody needs/wants it.

The vin and the rubberized cage are what make NAS STs unique. The price for a good condition cage is only going to go up over time.

Unrestored, excellent condition, low-mileage '94 or '95 NAS on BaT go for $90K to $120K TODAY.
Yours is probably 1/2 that so, $45K to $60K - yours will trend down as the car market softens while the unrestored, excellent condition, low mileage will stay firm or trend up.
I am excluding the restored and modified from this assessment as the money dropped into these can vary drastically.

50k would be the floor for non rusted trucks that need a lot of other TLC. Vin and Title and good body worth 25-30k. If someone thinks my estimates are high, I’m happy to discuss arrangements on acquisition.

Here's the price graph from BaT. You can see the decline in prices. The cluster from Q3&4 of 2021 and Q1&2 of 2022 landed between $80k to $100k. Second half of 2022 the cluster falls to between $65k to $85k. Imperfect analysis but also agrees with hagerty's 18%. Also note all the reserve not met hollow dots in the 2022 cluster. These people all thought their trucks had cluster 1 (2021) values but that market was gone.

A few photos would help with value. As you can see in the last 3 months there's $80k difference between high and low. But chances are you're in the current cluster.

There’s no dispute values on all classics have subsided off the highs of spring ‘22. But clean nice examples are still bringing strong money and the average examples are still maintaining pre Covid price hysteria.

Hi All,

Following along as I've actively started looking for a NAS since moving back to California and selling my ROW 90.

I have a lead on a 97 Arles Blue that was at my indy's shop (Hollands Garage in CT) when I was last there. I'd love to get your thoughts on FMV (if there is such a thing). Here's the skinny:

• 1997 Arles Blue SW #0310
• Had water damage in 2004 and sold at Auction. Apparently very minor?
• Buyer bought it, fixed it up drove it. Moved to CT in 2010 and started getting in worked on at Hollands (where I take all of my rovers and trust). Has a booklet of service records from before and from Hollands
• Hollands put in a new Atlantic Brtish 4.6, serviced it, dealt with minor corrosion, upgraded brake lines, old Man emu shocks, etc
• Total mileage on the truck is ~85k but got a new odo when they did the motor so reads 8k.

Overall it's in good shape with very limited corrosion, especially for an east coast truck. It drives nice, looks good, etc. The only hang up I have is the title and ODO issues and how to price them. If it weren't for those, it would be a no-brainer.
Also, I slightly worry about getting it titled in CA given the 4.6 but I think we can slap a 4.0 plenum cover on and it will pass smog no prob.

I know there is no "right" price and there is an ass for every seat. That said, I'm curious of how you'd think about this and appreciative of your input.
