1997 D90 engine shutoff

Hi folks! I have 1997 D90 and the engine has simply shutoff on a few occasions - more frequently while parking and going in and out of reverse. On less frequent occasions, after running the vehicle, turning off and then attempting to turn back on the engine doesn't sound as strong and then goes out. typically will need to wait 5-10 min and then restart. Additionally, I have noticed that there is a smell of gasoline and found a slight drip at the bend of the elbow of fuel hose - unsure if this could be related or just another issue. Any ideas? Thanks.

Strangely, my '97 has started behaving very similarly under very similiar circumstances in the last few months. Will be watching this thread...
sounds like an idle issue. search "idle air control valve" and you'll find lots of threads for the 97 stall/idle issue. usually a new/clean of the IACV and/or replacing the small rubber hoses that could cause vacuum leak will fix it right up. if you do replace IACV - don't get the $300 one at rovers north - get the $35 AC151 one from auto parts or amazon:
