Tested my vacuum pump and it was pulling between 1-2 inHg at the pump. Explains why my brakes were firm to say the least. Got a new Wabco and I can move the piston in and out a little over a quarter inch. After that no movement and no spring return. Just want to make sure this is correct before...

I have read a bunch of threads on replacing the vacuum pump on the 300tdi. The Haynes manual states engine needs to be in TDC. Otheres have said this is unnecessary. Be a lot easier to replace without setting TDC. Can anyone confirm replacing without setting TDC?

Searched everywhere, but can't find an answer The vacuum pump calls for one gasket, but there's a metal plate under it, and I don't know wether to put the gasket above or below the metal plate.

Had the vacuum pump replaced April 2015. Now the shop is telling me it has failed and is leaking and needs to be replaced again. Seems like it should have lasted longer than it did. Is this one of those items that fails often or is there something else going on that is causing it to fail that I...

**Skip to BOTTOM LINE if you're not into narrative and just want to see what the issue is, AFAIK** Right after the movers boxed up my spare parts bin, I headed to the in-laws for the evening. On I-66 I notice that (once traffic allows me to do so) I cannot go over 65, and EGT isn't even...

Can anyone tell me how this thing works? I had to disconnect it in order to remove the gearbox. I am fairly confident that I reconnected everything the way it was. When I pull the switch, nothing happens. If I swap the clear and red tubings, I can get the diff lock to engage but then it won't...

Has anyone removed and replaced the hard yellow plastic vacuum line from the A/C & Heater box in the engine bay, through the bulkhead, to the heat/cool mixer control? I need some tips on the topic before any work is started. The line has hardened and broken off on the engine bay side. It...

I've been hanging on to this since I replaced it in a vehicle I no longer have. Its a good "core" and is definitely repairable. It weeps a bit of oil from the usual spots (rivets), follow the instructions below and you'll have a spare. Free to whoever wants it, i can't bring myself to toss it...

Can anyone here offer any suggestions on how to get the turbo outlet to intercooler pipe past the oil drain spigot on the vacuum pump on the back side of the alternator. It's in the way on the top side of where the pipe should reside and the bottom of where the pipe should reside is restricted...

The 300tdi vacuum pump is notorious for leaking. Mine is leaking out of the rivets and while you can drill the rivets out, clean it up and put a gasket on and bolt it back up I would still like to see if anyone has fitted the 2.8 alternator/vacuum pump to their 300tdi engine and run the vacuum...
