1994 D90 NAS Exhaust Upgrade Q

Heyo -

Anyone know if the RN NRP Performance exhaust claim of increased HP and torque is accurate? Haven’t found anything on the forum to back it up. Looking to add to both and found this.

If anyone has better experience with another product please let me know. I’m new here!

Thanks!

I’ve got the cat-back portion. No noticeable difference for me but it does sound good.

Just installed one on a 95 NAS SW two weeks ago. It definitely feels more responsive but could be in my head. Sounds great, and very easy install. Not sure about HP. If you purchase, post back here. I can save you an hour trying to interpret the black and white faded pictures in the instructions and the extension hanger mystery part in the box that has to be installed behind muffler. Would also order two new rubber hangers ($3 Proline from RN).

About 5 or 6 years ago on the advice of the guys at JC Rover in Englewood I went to these guys https://www.aaperformancemuffler.com/ also in Englewood. They put on a magnaflow muffler and some performance cats.
Like the sound a lot but can't verify performance because my cats were clogged so anything would have improved performance. Cost a whole bunch less as well.

I am not sure the NRP cats are worth the premium over the off the shelf aftermarket y-pipes which can be had for $350 or so. I am a big fan of borla, but I believe they stopped making the D90 cat backs, so I would do the off the shelf y-pipe and NRP cat back.

Have built trucks with the complete NRP system and their cats do make a difference as compared to our personal truck with stock y pipe and the NRP exhaust. Another option that sounds great is the Magnaflow y pipe with NRP exhaust.

I had a redneck setup with Magnaflow cats and a Flowmaster muffler. Made the 3.9 sound like it spit hot fire. Hwy driving could get old with it though.
