Oil on Floor mat
 
I'm noticing a bit of oil on my floor mat, the oil spot is under my clutch & it looks as if it's pripping from my clutch.

Could it be my "Clutch Master Cylinder" ?, I checked my level of oil & it appears to be fine ?

Just looking for any ideas on what it maybe before getting it checked out.

Access is very, very poor. Not 'Hard' but more hard to get at. Some folks have mentioned removing the hood helps.

Seems like I remember quite a bit of info if you search through the forum.

When you or someone else pulls the master cylinder see if the bottom of the cylinder has some dissolved black stuff in it, like rubber seals.

Rovers North has a tech tip that says anything other than Lucas or Castrol LMA fluids may cause seal failure. I think this is why mine went bad.

I rebuilt mine instead of replacing it. It's easy once you have the master cylinder out. If the walls of the cylinder aren't scored then new seals is all it should need.

Its not a hard job. I cant remember if you can remove the pedel tower without removing the brake tower first.. I would try to just remove the tower though. Also, while you have the system drained, get a new rubber hose for the bottom and a rebuild kit for the slave. Do it all at once and you won't be sorry in the end.

Thanks for the replies !

I've always used Catrol fliuds for clutch / brake & I agree on changing master & slave together...

After inspecting a bit further I'm still a little puzzled, around the clutch master cylinder it's very clean & the level is very good, my next step is to inspect aroud the clutch ?

& yes I can see why it's going to be a pain in the A@% to remove & install !
