What he means is forgettaboutit!

Ca and diesels are incompatible. They are also apparently planning on refusing to renew VW tdi registrations.

My wife drives an Audi A7 TDI. Wonderful.

I keep being told by guys that they just never get them registered in CA, but other states and drive them here. I want to do it legally, if possible.

Leave California move to a free state and then you may pursue your happiness.

LOL, thanks for that.

And then move there

Haven't seen the truck, but I'm in Austin and would recommend having these guys do a pre-purchase inspection for you: Austin Roverworks. Ask for Chris Stockdale.

As for registering a diesel defender in California, it's not impossible.

Thanks Tommyd! Not impossible doesn't sound easy...any specific things to get it done?

Doug really said it best:

I have a guy who will handle it for you but he's not cheap. The truck must first have been titled in another state.
That said, if its a diesel it can be done.

I don't have any specifics for you, unfortunately. It seems everyone's experience is different. It should help that it's been registered and titled in Texas already. I'd PM Doug (Uncle Douglas).

X2. Ken Parker is his tech. He worked at LR Austin for years and worked on mine. Does excellent work.
