Catalytic Converters and Muffler

I know there are other posts on this...sort of...

My muffler and tailpipe are toast...so I'm going to go to a local shop to have them run new exhaust. Based upon user suggestions, I'll add a Flowmaster Delta 40, but I wanted to ask about cats. Should I just go ahead and replace mine? It's a '97, around 50K mi, and it's from the east...if the rest just rotted off, despite my cats 'looking' good, should I just ditch them? If so, generic from the shop, or should I buy the flowmaster and a performance cat from Jeg's or someone similar and take them all to the shop for the bending of the pipes? If yes, which diameter are the cats? I've only eyeballed the exhaust...you'll save me getting dirty.

Thanks, all!

My cats did not die until after 100k in the North East. I would leave them be unless they are broke.
