1st batch is done. See pics as they turned out nice. Anyone up for one?

Awesome job! Now the rest of my ride is going to have to get cleaned up just to match these bars

bjf September 14th, 2011 10:08 AM

I wish someone would make the light to go with it

CDeWan September 14th, 2011 10:35 AM

bar

A member had asked me if I could make the bars taller to clear some of the larger tire and yep sure that would not be a proble. Just let me know how much taller you need the bar to be?

Barry - I have contacted trucklight and just need to get back with them with pictures of a light and the foot print size. I will post their response.

bjf September 14th, 2011 10:51 AM

Cool. I cracked the lense of mine and now I feel my truck is worthless

specops1526 September 14th, 2011 02:32 PM

Those look good. Nice work. And, yes, Barry's truck is definitely worthless now.

bjf September 14th, 2011 02:51 PM

I want to sell my truck for parts. Everything must go except the km1 spare.

As for the light, I think the 94 had a different light than the 95 and 97. I couldn't open mine in the same way I could open a 95. Two tops screws on the 95 and it opened. On the 94 the whole thing has to come off the bar.

Good job Clay - I just got mine today and it looks really nice. Unfortunately I won't be able to put it on for a couple of weeks probably.

Matt,
Thank you. Let me know how they fit. I put each one up to my 94 to make sure the holes line up with no problem.

Damn it! I can't believe I just cracked my ST's TBL lens. Pisses me off... and yes I see what you mean, my truck now seems worthless as well.

Now what? One more unobtainium part to add to the wish list....

CDeWan September 23rd, 2011 07:59 PM

Garth,
I am doing a little research on the upper windshield trim and possibly a third brake light replacement. I will poke around and see if there is a match out there. The lens have all that DOT stuff on them which I am not sure if that matters in a replacement setting *.
Clay

*To anyone else who may wants to reply regarding this statement Yes I do know that concerning the DOT having an approved lens is needed to be in compliance and a person may get fined if the DOT numbers are not present.

bjf September 23rd, 2011 08:07 PM

I don't think anyone is stopping us for the third brake light missing a dot stamp.

Cool, thanks Clay.

I say you both use red cellophane over your cracked lenses since both trucks are essentially worthless now. Why spend money on something that has no value now?

geoellis September 23rd, 2011 09:55 PM

I can't wait to get mine. That rusty bar stands out like a flashing neon sign at a cheesy hotel.

I'll take one, but i need the light assembly to go with it. How much and wondering if trucklight got back to you. Thanks!

Peter,
I am currently out of these and not sure if I will make anymore. If I do, please let me re-iterate that that the ad never said an EXACT copy and that your factory bar may be slightly different from what is copied. I have had the following feedback so far from the six purchased:

One fit great with just a slight enlarging of one of his truck's mounting hole,
One fit great but 2 of the holes on the bar did not line up which is a total "my bad" on checking it
One member's original bar had an almost 90 degree bend in his bar rather than a smoothed S on the passengers side and as such the bar would not totally clear the tire carrier. Note that your tire carrier can be adjusted by loosening the bolts as there is a bunch of wiggle room to make the tire carrier clear the bar
One member was unhappy the 2 of his corners on the passenger's side mounting plate were square and not rounded. Not much I could do on that one except offer a full refund including a reimbursement for shipping

So if I do anymore I will let you know BUT there is absolutely $0 profit in this for me so there is no incentive for me to spend time driving to the machine shop, powder coaters, box company and shippers to get these to your door.
Anyone how wants one may have to accept that they may have to do a little on there part to get this to fit as all of the bars on the soft tops are not exactly the same. They too were made in batches and come with irregularities.

Pricing is $230 poder coated or $205 spray bombed and shipping nor a third brake light is not included with the bar.

Hi Clay,
I didn't read every post here but do you still have any 3rd brake light bars left? My 94 D90 is in need!
Thanks!
Dave

CDeWan December 20th, 2011 12:29 AM

Dave,
I am having 3 made up but I have been saying that for a few months now because I can't get the machine shop to start and finish them AREFEGGDFFdFGE(&*)*&()^(*%(*&(Y^*&*&!!!!! Hopefully I should have them by the end of next week. If your serious about getting one shoot me a PM and I will send you my paypal address.
