Always been one of my favorite builds. Has a new style rear door and 130 wheels. If it wasn't so far away I would have to check it out in person.

There are a number of type-o type things in that ad, but the major parts are right. It was a complete refurbishment of a nice condition truck. The engine was new, not rebuilt just in case anyone was asking. It left here with 85,210 on the odometer when we did the project in 2009.

So you don't install ARP exhausts ha!!

It is a super nice truck. I think you had a whole post about the axles and making it all work together. can't imagine selling that thing.

Uncle Douglas March 14th, 2011 05:49 PM

Barry its arles. Since your truck is now a crumbling pile of oxidation you should upgrade.

No badger headliner either (it has new genuine units).:)
Super nice guy, bummer he is selling but things change.

bjf March 14th, 2011 05:50 PM

Do you think the guy would want to trade? I can hide the rust with black caulk.

california March 14th, 2011 06:50 PM

I want to ask him how he registered it in California.

The smog exempt status is worth $$ alone... or dodgy lowrider smog shop signoff is worth -$$

bjf March 14th, 2011 06:52 PM

If a truck is already registered in CA you can do a diesel conversion. It is just paperwork

cwilder March 14th, 2011 07:13 PM

Is it worth 95k? It is very nice!

bjf March 14th, 2011 07:15 PM

It is if you want it

Whoa. Really? I did not know that.

This state is really strange...

Yes, that truck is very well sorted. What a bummer..... hope it goes to a good home.

I like the little dig at the "other Rover engineering masters" in the build thread.

I challenge you to do the same project for under $100K. Been there done that. Remember to factor in your own time should you do it yourself. This is fairly priced if not a little big of a bargain.

Would love to hear others thoughts.

BTW.............I f-ing LOVE the 30 spline axles.........I think those are Brothers?? Yes or No??

I couldn't do the work if I had the time. Not really a gearhead or that good at wrenching. I just love Defenders and pretty much all cars. I can see the value in this Defender and have no doubt about ECR's work. Heck I'm always reading Mike's updates. I just wish I had an extra 95K laying around

nikojo March 14th, 2011 10:08 PM

Hi Chad......I didn't take your post in a bad way. Just responding and giving my two cents or $95K worth...lol.

No worries, I didn't read it that way either. I just wanted to clarify my position so no others felt I was under valuing the rig.

ssbartley1 March 15th, 2011 08:53 AM

Thats a gorgeous truck- no doubt about that--- sad that it never got any off road time....

ECR April 12th, 2011 10:38 AM

Happy to hear that this truck has a new home now. :)
Enjoy it... you know who you are. ;)
