Attaching Bimini Top

1 Attachment(s)
'97 D90. On top of rear door are two black clips (see attachment) that I believe are intended to anchor the straps for my Bimini Top??? They line up perfectly with the placement of the straps. Just bought top from Rovers North, but the straps have nothing on them to attached to this piece. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

the 2 plastic parts hold the tailgate bar in place for the soft top, not sure on a bimini

mine had a pair of web eyes on the rear cap rail out near the c-hoop. Not sure if it was OEM, but looked it.

I just secure mine around the vertical portions of the rear roll cage - C-Hoop; I think there are a bunch of ways to skin a cat on this one.

As Dave said, your picture is where the tailgate bar slides in to secure your full soft top.

Remove those two plastic tailgate bar clips. I believe just two screws on each side. Under it are some rivnuts. I think you can buy some tie down loops and use the rivnut holes to secure them. The OEM bimini came with the extra tie down loops.

Guys, thanks for the replies. I'll pick up some fasteners.

+1 on just looping them around the vertical part of the rear rollbar hoop...

Sorry to tailgate this thread, but how long does it take to attach the soft top? I assume the first time takes a lot longer than thousandth time.

rijosho August 11th, 2010 02:49 PM

about 6 minutes and 30 seconds with 2 people. 10 with one person.

rlynch356 August 11th, 2010 05:59 PM

the normal soft top? - yeah 10 minutes is pretty good :) with one person once you ge thte hang of it.

figure 30-45 minutes the first couple of time.
