I looked into putting a Clansman set back in my truck but in the end, it wasn't worth the trouble. The biggest problem is interoperability with common amateur radio gear. If everyone in my group ran them, it would be awesome to make use of the sweet milspec handsets and throat mics and military antennas. I guess you're mostly looking for the mil "look" and not actual functionality, though.

I have only ever owned one with the full FFR kit and that one was in the UK. Your right you really need to want them. I do have a source in the UK for working PRC 351, PRC 350, and the hand radios for pretty cheap. He will also ship state side.

Mostly I just buy the non working sets and install my UHF radios on the inside. Allows me to have the look but I keep the function the 400-470 uhf bands

link for the UK radios.
