Just FYI they did not make a ht for a 94, it is for the 95 and 97 mods so you may have to do a bit of cutting by the b pillar digonals feet. No to deter you but a badger kit is really nice as well as ht are hard to store and crack

My 94 D90 has a hard top, its the fiberglass top but original to my 94. There is a blue D90 SW with a hardtop up here? is it not factory? it sure looked like a factory SW.

The fiberglas or plastic top was a dealer supplied extra rather than standard equipment.

There were a small number of POE aluminum HT built in the 1994 MY.

Makes sense

I bought my 94 from original owner and he bought it with the hard top on it and soft top in the rear.
I didn't know that it was a dealer option and not standard, learned something new today .

Clay - Jumping in here. Our trucks are so close in production, they should be the same. Mine has the fiberglass top which the original owner bought with the truck.

Here's a pic of my diagonal, 2-piece which should be the same as yours. If you look close you can see a plastic plate that frames the bottom of the diagonal. This was part of the kit for '94 trucks to make the top fit better. When they redesigned the diagonals in '95, it fit the top without any modifications.

FWIW, it's a shitty top. It's too bad there's no better solution between shitty fiberglass and uber-expensive Badger.

Mine is two piece same as the picture above, its number 919 if that means anything and has the R380. Not sure when they made that change either I was under the understanding that the 94 had the LT77 in some. Sorry to mud up the wanted add with this question.

Cheers Ed

Ed - your registry says you have a '95. I'd be surprised if a '95 had the 2-piece diagonals. I thought that was a '94 only thing.

The fiberglass top instructions, that were clearly updated post '94, make reference to a refit kit and some modification that need to be made for the top to fit on '94 trucks. I think they probably changed the top for '95 and made it easily retrofitted to '94 trucks, but I may be wrong.

The R380 was a running change in '94. Many were swapped out at dealers. Do a search, there are quite a few threads that discuss this in more detail.

top

Cool thread and thanks guys for the enlightenment. I did not know about the retro kit. I bought a hard top and had to do some cutting for the 2 piece diagonals. I never did warm up to the hard top after dumping $2,400 into it purchase price and painted AA Yellow to match the truck. I also had the inside painted with a sound deadening white to make it more cheerie in the cab. I like being able to take the top off and on at will at going with a HT for me in hindsight was stupid. As the wife calls my truck my barbie truck as I just like the fact that I can switch out stuff without much effort.

I know this lives somewhere on D-90, but it may be of interest in this thread. It's a PDF of the fiberglass instruction manual.
