Yeah I know, that's why I was asking.

So what's the 14000lb?

The hook looks not that beefy (i'd like to see a way to remove it without cutting) and when you splice a line it typically weakens the line slightly. (depending on the type of splice, but it's better to rate things on the side of caution)

Nice deal on a good line! If I didn't have a syn. line already I'd be all over this.

Yeah I was just asking for a little clarification on an important spec. Apparently that is a silly question. I am quite surprised so many people blindly jumped on board with a 3/8" line with a breaking strength over 5000lbs less than the most basic 3/8" line from MasterPull. I don't get it.

Or it should be a tuck splice, which is very easy to undo to remove hook. And you will not degrade the strength of the line by putting the tuck back in. I used to hand out a video on how to tuck splice every time I sold any 12 strand winch line. Super easy to do and fun the first 10 times you do it

Got mine! I'm new to synthetic and didn't realize some synthetics come without an eyelet for fastening to the drum. How would I attach this to a warn drum that uses the button head screw?

A winchline retainer holds them in nice and snug - http://www.amazon.com/Offroad-OK-WRR.../dp/B003FXR0JS

Thats just one I found but you can find them for real cheap. I have one on my Husky 10.

The retainer is just to hold it snug so you can wind the rope and doesn't serve a safety function. Tension is what keeps the rope on and why you maintain several full wraps around the drum. Put the screw through the end of the rope (make sure the ends are burned/melted).

Can I just crimp and brass ring terminal on the end of it? Looking at OK Offroad winchlines, it appears that's what they do. I have some handy.
