What all did they make up for you? Just the shafts or did they make up a CV as well? I am very intrigued. Any pictures?

As graceful as Dave is HD axles would be overkill IMO.

Not with a Detroit! You can kill them when an axle breaks. It is not worth the risk.

Didn't take any pics. I just had them make up the inner shafts. I did have to send one back to have the splines cut a bit deeper because the fit was too tight.

If I remember right it was about $500 bucks for both.

Oops, forgot to apply my sarcast-emoji he's got a light truck and doesn't drive like a bat out hell so he'll probably do fine in the meantime. Mine have last 12 years.

Negative. I've broken both axle shafts and a flange. My detroit has remained intact. And yes I did pull it apart the last time I snapped an axle shaft. All was well. Really didn't looked to worn. Probably got like, 50k on it. The first time I broke a shaft, I just kept driving. I even towed with it. Ah, the joys of being young and ignorant.

However the rover style diff, all bets are off.

I just put in there whatever Trevor had in stock. So stock-like shafts. Upgraded shafts would probably be a fantastic idea.

The series trek rear axle pricing seems reasonable enough. But the fronts...oooph. I remember custom shafts for jeeps being cheaper than that.

John is right, breaking an axle can definitely break the Detroit as well.

And Moser was doing Keith's axles at one time I think; I'm still running Keith's front inners from 2004!
