Sean. I'll sell you mine. The holes didn't line up with my Hella Matador.
PM me if you're interested. $50 shipped.

Well, thats a good deal for someone, so don't let me stop you... But why not just drill holes to match? Touch up with Krylon to prevent rust and call it good. It's not like you can see any of it once the light is installed.

The Matador lamp mounting points are about 1/2" wider than the holes on the worklight bracket. WTF!

I assume the bracket was designed for a different worklight. Obviously.

So, there is not enough excess metal to just drill an additional hole and call it a day. If you want to move the left mounting hole further to the "left", the lamp will move too far to the left and then interfere with the antenna mounting.

I also have the Matador light, not sure what I am going to do, but needless to say I am a little disappointed.

I just discovered a friend of mine has a much nicer drill press than my poor little 10" one. And decent vice to go with it. So if you need to drill the holes partially over the existing one, I think this can handle it. Let me know if you want me to do this (maybe i can do it to my "other" bracket and swap them at the happy hour).

Well, at that point, you can just make your own just as easily and sell that one imho. I think the frustration I am hearing here is that they bought a pre-made one because it should have made it a trivial task to mount the light and antennae. I didn't mind having to mod mine, but it does suck since the whole point of buying versus building is lost hen you have to start modding it Not sure if this was advertised as being for the Matador or not.

Hey guys,
I am sorry to hear that the bracket isn't working as planned for you. For my information, what is the spacing from center hole to center hole on the matador? I have the old style matador that came from SG with my light, so maybe they changed the hole spacing. Either way, I can see about getting holes correctly drilled and swapping out with you if I can have the correct spacing. Plus, pics would help me too. Sorry about this, I thought this would be easy enough, but as all things are in life.....it is turning into a PITA! No worries though, maybe we can get it worked out.
Use this:

0-----?-----0
?
0-----?-----0

Also, are you sure that the bottom bracket can't be bent in 1/2in. to allow it to fit? After looking at a picture of a matador, it looks like it could be easily modified (bent) with a pair of pliers so it would fit. The new style matador's mount looks exactly like mine. I'll measure the spacing too. If nothing else, it seems like you could take the bottom of the matador mount off, and bend a new peice of metal to mount to the SG mount, then attach the swivel bolt back through.

Also, if you are unhappy, send the mount back to me for a refund.

Follow-up Post:

Matador

New Matador Mount Pics

Shawn,

No worries, I know how it goes. I ain't mad at ya

Anyway, here are some pics and measurements. In the second pic, the left holes line up. In the third pic, the right holes line up. The are about 3/4" off in the wide direction, and about 1/8" off in the short direction.

0-----3.25"-----0

1.25"

0-----3.25"-----0

I would rather not bend it, although that seems like the easiest solution. Although some drilling will be needed as the short distance between holes (front to back) is off by at least 1/8".

It looks to me like Hella has changed the mount.

If you want a refund PM me and we'll work it out. Otherwise, if somebody can part with that bottom piece of the matador mount and send it to me, I can have some brackets made that will fit it.

The bottom piece of the "new style" matador mount is at the fab shop. Hopefully they will fix it and turn it around for us quickly. I'll keep you posted.

I went by there the other day to check on the progress, and they still haven't made them yet. Just keeping you posted.

Its seems the matador would function just fine if you simply removed the lower mount.
