Safari Gard Tire Carrier

Safari Gard Tire Carrier and third brake light bar. Paid $990 used 6 months.

I just bought a LR Roof Rack which will not work with the SG tire carrier.

The good - you don't have to wait 2-3 months to get it from SG.

The bad - Missing a spacer, the screws that hold the jerry can plate are rusty, Slight scuff from where the jerry cans touch the carrier, one of the heim joints won't move - will need some PB blaster.

$800 OBO - would prefer not to ship but I will at buyers expense.

Joe

I would take pics but I jus tfound out my digital camera broke on my way home from my last Baja adventure - Sorry!

It there any reason this would not work with a hard top? What is the spacer for (wheel)?? Some pictures would really help, I'm interested but you speak of rust. Is the joint for sure going to losen up?

Thanks

When you say hard top are you talking fiberglass top or station wagon. The SG carrier will work with the Fiberglass hardtop as long as you already have the mounting brackets for the stock carrier. If you have a SW you will need to get the mounting brackets from a ST. I have an extra set of brackets but I don't have the bolts that hold the carrier on.

As far as rust is concerned the carrier itself is not rusted just the screws that SG supplied to bolt the jerry can plate on have begun to rust. Simple fix would be to go buy some stainless screws.

As far as the heim is concerned I would assume it would free up since I screwed the thing in place when I got it, but I cannot guarentee it with 100% certainty.

The spacer is a spacer for the the mounting point. SInce I have an old GCR antenna mount I didn't need it because I used it plus two washers instead of the supplied spacer.

Hopefully this answers all your questions.

Joe

Actually - now that I see you have a 94 I recant my question regarding the fiberglass top vs SW. I assume POE's came with the ST tire carrier.

I can help arrange for the shipping - I just was hoping to find a local buyer, but that isn't panning out.

Joe,

I am interested as well... Although you will have to ship to me too.

Any chance you would like to trade for a set (2) of Hella 4000 Xenon, they are slightly used, but in perfect condition.

I would be willing to toss in a few $ too.

Scott

Scott,

No problem on the shipping. At this point I would rather not trade because I need to save up my dollars for a new custom tire carrier that will work with the roof rack - but that might change depending on whether or not I can find a buyer.

i hate to try to low-ball you but i just dumped a lot of cash into a fuel tank skid plate, leaving the 90 fund a little on the dry side. not your problem but i really want to buy the tire mount! if you arent offended, can i offer $700 shipped?
