Although it sounds facetious, I believe the scrap value of aluminum is around $0.90-$1.00 / lb.

How much does a 3 spoke alloy weigh (Briggs, this doesn't mean you can't still buy me drinks).

Quite a profit margin for them. Well, it's an alternative. I'm guessing 15 lbs per wheel? It's an alternative to finding a buyer+paying for shipping.
