Even with the annual markup these things get. I think an Explorer II is at least 4700

ron i will get pics and model # tonight. i am looking for a 94-95 lwb range with lower miles. jack- thanks for the rain!!! i am told rolex has a fairly stiff policy of not discounting? maybe they are blowin smoke up my ass? but omaha has maybe 2 or 3 rolex dealers and when i purchased mine thats what all of them told me. anyways just to save 7% sale tax i purchased both of mine from tivol in overland park kansas(no tax on shipped out of state items) every other store is probably a rolex dealer in california. phill explorer is $5000 unless purchased from jack-probably $4k

I'm not raining on anything.
I'm just educating Ron.

I hope someone would do the same for me.

A public for-sale classifieds posting on an internet bbs is about as free market as it gets and part of advertising in this manner is that you don't get to manipulate or otherwise control the information that your potential buyers are privy to. It often becomes a self-regulating system as you are bearing witness to now.

Of the no less than 9 people I personally know who have bought rolex's in the last 6 months, not one paid $5000 for a sub and they all bought from a legit dealer.

Keep in mind I have no dog in this fight.
I don't know you and I don't sell Rolexes.

Not to add more rain to the parade, but I am in the market for a Rolex Submariner myself and have found the 50th anniversery addition for $4400 new. A used SUB is going for about 3500 here in Columbus, but as the saying goes, it is all about location. Mind you, thats 3500 for the z serial number. That being said, I was able to pick up a used Leica M6 off the D-90 site for about $350 less than I could have gotten it anywhere else. I love D-90.com

I have a 95 LWB that is worth about as much as that watch . . . . and, in any event, I know what it is worth. What letter serial number is it and is it the standard size (41mm???).

I really want a green on green sub. or at least green face black bezel. To be really onry, I am looking for one without the date.

I thought they were bigger than 40?

My day/date/month omega is 39mm and is a little small for me.

Ron, if you're serious about it, I can get you in touch with my dealer here in DC that can source just about anything.

Ken, was that the Brietling you were wearing at the party?

Tony

Basically Rolex never made what I wanted. I have my sources but I am just going to wait for a deal and then buy a new face and have it swapped.

I do have a seriously cool 1969-70ish rolex daytona oyster perpetual that I never wear as it is worth more than any D90.

Missed a final year schumacher for $1600 on ebay before the holidays :-(
