It's a hook, and it's an eye...size is arbitrary. I got one at Napa (yes, Napa) and it worked fine...but then Carlos gave me one for free so I returned it!

I'm getting good at dropping the skid plate and tank.

The gussets that extend laterally from either side of the square channel are supposed to sit against/under the bottom edge of the crossmember to prevent twisting of the channel.
The hitch will not have the requisite strength installed any other way.

Similarly, the backing plate should be used to prevent the bolts pulling through the thin crossmember.

Just to be clear ... it would replace the hitch (obviously) AND the two side steps? Those are very handy for my boys when they're crawling in... thx.

That step is a separate piece.

I'm pretty sure you could install it outboard of the receiver hitch. You just don't want anything between the receiver hitch and the crossmember.

Has anyone mounted this on a 110 with a rear tank? I'm gonna put mine on next week and I want to see if there are going to be any surprises. It's a TD5 tank.
Thanks

I have installed couple of the RN, in essence the same principle, and it was very easy once I dropped the tank few inches on a jack to gain access to the back of the crossmember to install the backing plate
