Rebuilt R380

bought as a spare and no long applies. need to clear things out.
I bought from someone doing the same as spare inventory. I do not know it's full history.
It has the green 'no oil' sticker on the side. May have been a AB rebuild. Input and output spline look new. Input shaft has a new part sticker on it's end.

I also have an old shifter, all the bits to rebuild the shifter top internals (and a new shifter housing as well - where do all these parts come from???) - included.

$1200 OBO!

To help in your sale, as I'm sure people are going to want to know what version this is...

56A - Long stick (Defender), long bellhousing, 300TDI and earlier 4 cylinder input shaft.

ahhhh, yes. Thanks John. Too many years and too many revisions to the drive train conversion process. My head has been in NV4500 land for awhile now.

I had gotten it to mate to my TDI not knowing how long my LT77 was going to last....and then changed EVERYTHING

Holy back from the dead!

Any progress on your 6BT swap? That gear worked out perfectly for me.

Sorry for the hijack.

I'm not dead yet! I think....

SLOW - but making more progress this year. Because of your nagging, I'm in the process of reinforcing/plating my replacement frame (original frame was too rotted. Got a good ROW frame from Shane). Finally got the cooling stack mostly done. Disco AC condenser, Custom Bell intercooler, custom radiator. So that finally places the motor. I'm going to only use the AC pusher fans for low speed cooling - should be OK with the BT6. Mounts for the P38 steering box welded on too.

I'm having a bit of a dilemma about my panhard rod mounting. It and the steering radius arm want to occupy almost the same space. I can't figure if I'll get too much bump steer if I just swap over to the RHD panhard mounting - or if I need to make a crazy LHD bracket.... I'll look at it more when I get the frame welding done.

Glad that gear worked. What's the status of your rig these days?

I guess this should be over in my build thread!.....

Yeah. What he said! And how many padded soft top cages have you made since you've been gone?

dammit. busted. None.

It will happen. I have a b-hoop that needs over-molding and a donor b-hoop to take the mold off of. I've managed to collect all the other cage pieces. I figured I needed a chassis, drivetrain, and body to put it on first!

I was looking at over-molding material a couple days ago. The original 'foam' was really dense. Twice as dense as any flexible urethane foam I can find. It's very close to basically pure urethane/RTV/silicone in density. That does make casting easier as the foam goes off very quickly.

Which gearbox is it?????

Choices are:
1.) V8
2.) 4 cylinder long belhousing (like 300 TDI or 200TDI long belhousing)
3.) 4 cylinder short belhousing to replace an LT77 like a defender 200TDI or 2.5 NA would have had when the engine is spaced back from the radiator. Often refered to as Stumpy.

I would be interested if it is an item 3 as we use that setup with the OM617, but the first motion shaft (primary pinion) looks too long, but can't be 100% sure until I get back home and measure to see if the 11.5" is right.

I'm interested in the shifter and parts if you'll separate.

I'm putting a 6BT/NV4500 in my 110. The NV5600 is even bigger and heavier - already having trouble putting 10lbs of....in this 5lb bucket.

Damn, that's a lot of motor for a 110! I like it! I'll have to check out your build thread.

is this still available? Is this the tanny I need to do a 300tdi swap from the 3.9? Will my current bell housing work or do I need to source one of those too?
