range rover classic ARB bumper

Here is a range rover classic front ARB bumper...its been sandblasted and then painted with a truck bed liner material...looks good...very slight bend on one edge...so slight I didn't notice it until AFTER I painted it...$500 plus shipping...although I would prefer local pickup due to the weight...

Shayne....

Will a Warn 9.5 lie flat in the ARB? (versus standing up straight - I need the airflow)

Shayne....

Turns out that I cannot lay the Warn 9.5 on its back like I wanted to. It is only to be mounted vertically, per Warn.
That's why I wanted the ARB.
So, I won't be needing it after all.

Clark

They say that about the XD9000i as well. Deoesn't seem to bother mine or others I know mounted the same way.

Only issue I am aware of is that the drain holes at the ends of the drum are located on the bottom. If you wanted you coud drill some on the back but mine and others I know have never seemed to care.

I was told that it isn't supposed to used as a hoist, which it would be if on its back. Nothing was said about drain holes.
Well, the point is no longer important as I cut my front wings yesterday to within 1 1/2" of the RTE bumper for appearance and clearance.
Thanks for the information. Even though I'll stick with the RTE now I am going to check with Warn.

Not seeing how they could say its not to be used as a hoist..the only difference between it being a hoist vs a winch is the directional forces placed on the housing itself.. There is no difference in the way that the motor is operating on its back or an upright position...I could however saa an issue with drain holes as mentioned.. I too have seen many on their back...

I would think it was stronger on its back being pulled 'into' the mounting feet and the frame rather than sideways to it?

The hoist comment is BS IMHO. You can still use it as a hoist if you mount it upright if you use a pulley or roller to change direction of the rope. The hoist vs. no hoist argument is to do with safety and liability not angle of opperation. Its not designed as a hoist so they say not to use it as one. Probably to do with the way the brake and so on is designed not to hold a constant load like it would if suspending something rather than the pulling aspect.

Called Warn and they said there really isn't a "hoist" issue - it is the drains.

Do you have a used winch that you could sell with the bumper? If so how much?
