[Price check] blown 200TDI long block

What is a realistic price to ask for this? Bottom end is shot, head is good and flat, comes with front defender timing housing, pistons look good, stilll have cross hatching on cly walls, needs rebuild.

Does not include: intake or exhaust manifolds or clutch housing

What is it worth, ill prob look to sell soon or rebuild it then sell. Its a spare motor

How bad are we talking? Does it need a crank?

What about ancillaries? IP included? I'd figure a quick $1800-$2000 one you buy a turbo, intake manifold, pay for machine work (again, depending on the severity), bearings, gaskets, seals, head bolts, etc.

I think $1000 would be my top dollar if it was a really clean engine that wasn't all miled up.

crank will need to me machined or replaced, but they are strangely cheap?

Comes with injection pump, but nothing else besides rear timing cover.

I was assuming around the same, but i think the injection pump will be worth more separate...thanks for the input.

Im going to roll it out and clean it up

Not unless it is recently rebuild. Most of the cost with these is in the rebuilding and an unknown pump is a gamble.

Cranks are not "cheap". $400 for the part plus $300 for shipping. Knowing if it can be ground is an impact on cost.

The IP is known good. Was taken off my truck running with no issues.

I thought that the 200tdi used the same crank as the early blocks? Thats why i though it was cheap...thought it was like 300 all in when i researched it a while ago...from flatdog if i remember

Whats your thought on the motor if the crank can be saved?

EDIT:: Crank looks to be 175 GBP, SO it was defiantly higher than i remember

Yep, ERR1181, 2.5 petrol through to 200TDI. 279.00 for Turner's. Cheaper elsewhere, but not sure a cheap Chinese crank makes sense.... They are heavy. IIRC, shipping was around 150 with one that came in a few weeks ago.

"Known good" is always still iffy, in my mind unless it was bench tested by a Bosch shop and the seal changed. Getting them sorted seems to be the biggest cost in a rebuild of these things.

I would still be with Ash on this that $1000 is still the top end. Too many unknowns until you get into the rebuild with everything apart, cleaned and inspected by someone that knows what to look for.
