Ok here is the engine poll.

Subject to price obviously.

Oops, selected "takeout 300tdi/r380/lt230/gbox xmember/rad/intercooler etc 1800 Discovery 1" but also meant to select "take out 200tdi with rad/intercooler etc defender"

O.k. stupid question time:
Does the
takeout 300tdi/r380/lt230/gbox xmember/rad/intercooler etc 1800 Defender

come with all of the ancilliaries so that it is basically plug and play?
Do we need to have a different lt230 then our NAS?
If we have air conditioning is a airconditioning pulley and compressor mount available for that motor.
Do we get the exhaust manifold and turbo with piping and down pipe?
Does the motor come with frame mounts or will it match up to the V8 frame (I don't think it does but?)

Sorry I am just trying to come up with post delivery costs to make it work.

1 more - it is my understanding that British Airways World Cargo's pricing is very reasonable for a pallet. Can anyone confirm that? (I believe it was $500 a pallet to any major airport). That would save the trouble of packing in a container, parcing out the container, the finding shipping from container's origin to its final destination.
Julian are you register with BA for this service?
Thank you,
Clay

The engines are direct take out so come complete with ancilleries.
the lt230's are the same i believe, but don't quote me.
A/C can be fitted to a 300tdi, there is a kit available.
the manifolds are there you'll have to buy yourself and exhaust system, most parts suppliers in the US supply tdi exhaust systems.
The engine does not come with mounts, these you will have to fabricate.

World cargo is subject to weight. So if the pallet is light its cheap. Engines and gearboxes are not light. Sea freight is the cheapest option.

questions

Thank you. That helps!
As for the other comment, why a TD5? I realize that they are superior to the 300 but don't they come with a lot more electronics thus installation would be a more time consuming and difficult.

Any comment from the 300 vs TD5 crowd? Of course this is probably addressed in the technical topics so I won't try to detract from the thread

The difference in the lt-230 that comes with the tdi vs. Nas ones could just be the differences in the high range gears, as in 1.2 vs 1.4, etc

Youve been schlepping around with Lucas stuff for years, Td5 "electronics" cant be that bad. How many electronic devices do you use daily. I will admit drive by wire is lame.

on average 125,000 miles to 160,000 miles, there are no low mileage 300tdi's or 200tdi's in the UK any one who sells an engine and tells you it has less than 60,000miles on is full of sh*t!

Just got one quote for 2 pallets (engine/gbox) for 700 for arrival port new york, not including any fees state side, Doug C may be cheaper.
